That was a shocking performance and we got what we deserve which was nothing. The defence and Midfield were all over the place. Coates and Skirtel were terrible at centre back and a howler from Jones for the 2nd.

No link up play to the front men, Suarez hardley touching the ball in the 2nd half. Maybe that's a kick of the arse some of the players needed.

Well done to Oldham and good luck in the next round.

Poor performance in the second half. We were set up to counter attack and yet we stopped doing this. Sturridge was isolated and Suarez went missing. Apart from Henderson our central midfielders failed to move up and join any attacks and so we just kept losing the ball and Arsenal would come back at us.

Yeah it seems whenever Liverpool get a lead against the big teams this season, the discipline starts to wane. Have to work on improving that.

Good performance today and we could have got all 3 points. Howler from Reina though, what was he doing?

Getting a draw at both Arsenal and Man City is pretty decent really although we really need to start beating some of the bigger teams.

It was a good game, for the neutral. I think Liverpool deserved the 3 points IMO, they looked a different team to the ones I've seen so far this season (which to be fair, after watching Liverpool since the early 80's, they were fast becomming the worst 'pool side I've ever seen)
It was great to see Sturridge play like he did, I thought he was really keen, enthusiastic and takes a but of pressure off Suarez. And he took his goal well, I could moan all day about Djezko expecting the ref to blow up/Liverpool to kick the ball out, but they were spot on, I was so angry when I saw him moaning at the ref, and vene more angry when the Man City fans decided then to boo Sturridge on every touch. I was praying for him to score a last minute winning goal and shut them up.

Absolutely Liverpool deserved to win it. And i agree, they are a much improved team now, but there is still some work to be done and yesterday demonstrated that. There were a lot of people people writing off Liverpool before the game, it was nice to see them proved wrong, and were it not for Reina - You guys nearly had the 3 points in the bag.

Reina's actually been better recently after letting his standards drop over the last season and a half. Szczesny made a similar error during the week when he was a bit over-zealous in coming for a through ball, he recovered and so would've Reina had it not been for a brilliant finish from Aguero. Seems a bit harsh to demonize for one mistake, especially as he had his head in his shirt at the final whistle.

He's been costing Liverpool points for a while now. He is not the keeper he was and imo needs a move for the benefit of both him and the club.

Good point (in bold), to play in Rodgers system which is of course a variation on Barcelona's model, you need to be at peak physical and mental fitness but even the mighty Catalans get tired at different points of the season (you could say that about them just now for instance) and I am unsure if the fitness regime at Liverpool is needing to be varied accordingly. Tbf, it wasn't the outfield players that cost them yesterday but the goalkeeper making a silly error (though Aguero's finish from there was sensational from his pov). They may also need more versatile defenders in the summer who are more used to playing like that, can play like that 90 minutes and start off the play from the back (as well as a new keeper as I said previously).

Having said all that, as a fan of them, I think progress is being made and next season there could be a genuine shot at going for fourth.

He's been a great player for the club. I think it goes without saying he has always done everything he could. He's always been one of those to rely on, he has always given his all and never given up. But beyond that he has also been an excellent defender. Never the quickest but his positional sense and tactical brain have always made up for that. When he has been caught out he's been known to make perfect last ditch tackles. Sometimes these days the power of determination and pure grit can be overlooked for technical aspects and looked down on. But they're attributes which can still make a defender top class.

Good luck to the guy, we'll miss him.

Not his own goals though.

That was shit.

Typical Liverpool performance, dominated the game but just couldn't score. Missed an underserved penalty and then Agger goes to sleep for both goals. Once the first went in we weren't going to win but the second was just a real bastard.

Quite a few players disappointed and yet again it seems to be the issue of concentration. Rodgers needs to sort that out. Particularly bad were Shelvey, Johnson, Agger (at the end) and Suarez got worse.

What's really disappointing is we could have really closed the gap on Everton. I wasn't expecting us to get 4th because asking Spurs and Arsenal to both drop that many points and us to make them up was too much, but I'd be very happy to finish above Everton and in 6th. Unfortunately every time we look to closing the gap we then mess up. Grrrrr

Hurrah back to winning ways after the disappointment of the last 2 games.

Some good goals scored by the team and good movement. Now hopefully we can play like this on Thursday and turn that game around.

Don't care if Swansea fielded a weaken side you still have to beat them and in the 2nd half for a 10 min spell Liverpool took them apart.

It was indeed a good performance, but the worry with the team is that for every great game they have to also have a shit one, where they regress backwards. Consistency is the key, if Liverpool had that they'd probably make top 4 a long time ago.
