I dont really know about how unpopular this is..... but the Wolf of Wall Street is really over hyped and I think its because of a combination of being 18 rated, 3+ hour long with a shit load of tits and ass.

While the performances are all great, the film was needlessly over long and I was disheartened that by an hour in to the film you could tell it hadnt even got going yet. Other than the aforementioned tits and ass, the film doesnt add much new, especially if you have seen Scorceses other films - looking at The Departed, Casino and Goodfellas. Scorcese on complete auto pilot here.

Finally, as funny as he was, while watching Jonah Hill I couldnt help but think this was a role perfect for a younger Joe Pesci.

The Carrie remake was really good.

I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Ultimately unnecessary, but a solid remake nonetheless.

I liked 2/3rds of TWOWS, really I did... the rest of it was over-indulgent crap... seriously, there is so much stuff to enjoy but the rest of it..?

And now, I hear that there is a FOUR-hour version coming out on DVD and Blu in the spring?

The mind boggles, twists and turns for a bit and finally explodes.

Utterly fucking ridiculous. A tight, 140 minute version of TWOWS would have been a classic. Anything over that... it's just cinematic diarrhoea from a truly classic director who needs a slap or two to focus his head.

Her - garbage!
About Time - dreadful!
Memento - not that great.

I like WOWS, it's not one of the best ever made. I'm not even sure it would make Scorsese's top 10.
Memento is a really good film, possibly overhyped following the Nolan supremacy of recent years.
Rise of the Footsoldier really is one of the worst films I've ever had to sit through.

SOME SPOILERS

I've always liked movies based on actual events with good actors and dramatic/comedic moments, because you know most of the scenes have actually happend. You laugh when something funny happens, because it was a real moment, also you sympathize with the situation that the main characters are in. I can't understand how movies like ROTS, Wolf of wall street, Rush.. even Lone Survivor get so much hate, not particularly on this board, but in most forms of media. So movies like Her and About Time, which show us a MAN IN LOVE WITH A MACHINE and a goofy skinny guy, whose WHOLE family can travel back in time and they are somehow old, with those powers.. so such movies are considered touching and they deserve critical acclaim, but top critics on one famous website can write that an amazing movie like Lone Survivor is not that great and we CAN'T FEEL ABOUT THE MAIN CHARACTERS. That's totally nuts! :D So people now can feel about dudes in love with their microwaves, phone burials, machines, time travel and all sorts of stuff that haven't happened yet, but most biographical films are boring, stupid and the worst. Don't get me wrong I like all sorts of movies, but some of them have been spit upon too much.

Lone Survivor is one of the best war films of the last decade or so. I know people will let politics cloud their view, but as a piece of cinema, I thought it was brilliant.

Although I enjoyed it overall, it has some real problems. Firstly, when any American character dies it almost comes off as really heroic, rather than traumatic. Knowing that Berg is a Bay-esque director seemingly in awe of American troops, it's not surprising that this is the route he took, but i think the film would be more effective if deaths felt traumatic, rather than heroic. Makes the movie feel like US military propaganda, rather than a portrayal of war. Made things feel off at times.

My other issue was that it rarely ever feels like were in Afghanistan. From the military bases during the opening, to the majority of the action in the mountains, it all feels like it was shot in America, never feeling like were on foreign soil. It distracted me quite a bit.

It's still a pretty solid film, with some good performances. In the hands of a better director, it could've been really, really good.

I can't deny there's a very "Yay America!" vibe to it, but it didn't bother me because it was telling a true story - and it did introduce another side to the Afghan people rather than just portraying them as the collective evil who kill American troops. It was tense, exciting, gripping, and the gun battles were electric.

Kind of late to this, but WOWS was fantastic. It's a really intelligent film made by an extremely intelligent director disguised as something completely different on the surface.

Days Of Future Past looks so dreadful. I can't even comprehend how people are excited for it.

I finally got to see The Master. I was overwhelmed by the acting, Phoenix and Hoffman are terrific. But I was kind of disappointed with the movie itself, it probably requires multiple viewing but I'm not sure if I want to do this any time soon..

Olympus Has Fallen is a terrific old school hard edged action film.It was a rare pleasure to watch a new action movie with hard core violence and fucking swearing! It was ridiculous of course but a lot of the best action movies are.

Couldnt beleive it got a 15 rating especially after that woman gets horribly beaten up.What was great about that scene is that you REALLY want to see Gerard Butler kick their arses after that.

I actually quite like Cars. Sure, it's no Toy Story and it might go on too long, but I loved the relaxed feel of it all and I just found it to be very enjoyable. Doesn't deserve the flak it gets at all, in my opinion

Not seen Cars 2 though.

...I get the feeling I've already voiced this opinion here, but what the hell.

Same here. It gets a bum rap because its cars, and animated vehicles aren't anything new, progressive or interesting .

But... the story, characters and humour are all terrific, I think, and I much prefer it to Up, Wall-E and The Incredibles. Ratatouille I think is my fave Pixar.

I see the Master as kinda like Paul Thomas Anderson's INLAND EMPIRE, where for certain people (even who have admired his work in the past) were just left a bit cold by it, at least on first viewing, but also it might just be one for hardcore PTA fans. I think a big part of the mixed reaction was because of the length and lack of story. Then again like Lynch, Anderson has always transended classic narrative conventions
in favour of music, atmosphere, visual style and great performances. On first viewing I had mixed feelings on the Master, but having watched it a couple more times consider it another classic! Sorry for the long winded reply just wanted to make my position clear.

Didn't think much to Cars, so won't bother with Cars 2, or Planes for that matter

To be honest I have not seen a lot of PTS but even eventhough The Master wasn't really my thing I still want to see the rest of his work as soon as possible. I have only seen There Will Be Blood and that was a work of art so I can't wait to see his other films like Magnolia and Boogie Nights.

You're probably right about having to watch it multiple times. Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie but during the end titles I had this indifferent feeling I usually don't have with films like these.

requiem for a dream, sucks
black swan, worst movie ever.
fight club, stupid.
pulp fiction, a waist of time, you get nothing out of this movie, its Quentin Tarantino flashing his cock to the views and getting away with it.
