I enjoyed much of MoS. Everything leading up to the big fight in the third act, all of Clark's figuring out the world stuff, was great, but while the action was fun at first it just went on too long. I got quite bored by the end. I've seen it twice now, and while I'm sure I'll watch it a third time, it won't be for a while.

The internet reaction to the news of Ben Affleck playing Batman in MOS2 was rather muted.I thought it would have provoked a much stronger reaction.

All there seemed to be was actors and directors saying '' Afflecks a great guy! Hel be great! ''

I'd be happier with a petition that gets Mr Snyder right the fuck out of this franchise and gets someone in who, I dunno, doesn't let Superman destroy a city, killing tens of thousands of people and then snap someones neck..?

Yeah, I know it's been said before, but that awful film should have been called CUNT OF STEEL!

Affleck getting cast is not the worst of it if Snyder is back...

Star Wars Episode 4-6 are as worse as 1-3. It's a really bad franchise and we deserve better.

Someone has just caught the series on ITV this christmas?

Even as a kid the OT didnt sit right with me, at least some aspects, though I did enjoy it. I even enjoyed the new series except for the odd moment - R2D2 rocket boosters and C3POs segment at the end of Attack. It really wasnt until I saw Episode 3 in the cinema that I realised the entire thing was gash.

Such a bloated, lazy mess. And damn, the effects have aged so so badly I cant force myself to watch it. What a waste. (though i am looking forward to disneys attempt).

Tony Scott should never have directed movies. Aside from lacking a childish sense of humor, he was no different from Michael Bay. Well, actually, he wasnt the worst, I liked Enemy of the State and im partial to Top Gun.

He's miles above Michael Bay, who is basically a pornographer. Crimson Tide and Man On Fire are terrific movies.

Yeah but thats par for the course these days. The same happened to Charlie Hunnam being cast in 50 shades before he dropped out.I dunno, i just thought the reaction would be a lot stronger.

Im willing to give Affleck a chance but despite being physically right for the role, he comes across as a dumb football jock to me.Batman is supposed to have the keenest intellect as well as being a bad ass.

I agree about Snyder, but honestly the destruction and the neck snapping was the least of that films problems for me. The awful structuring choices, any lack of tension or atmosphere, convoluted action scenes etc. The film is terrible.

Eagle Eye is a really fun (and completely ridiculous) thriller.

The Tall Man is an amazing movie, genuinely surprised by the mediocre reviews.

The Last Stand is a terrific action film and the best western released this year ( I consider it a modern day western ).

I thought it was fantastic, almost as good as Martyrs and had a hell of a lot in common with Laugier's earlier film in terms of plotting and theme (the idea of people committing horrendous acts for what they believe to be the greater good).
Sadly, I think the American distributors gave up on it before it was even released and marketed it as a half-arsed slasher. And it seems some reviewers who did actually watch it were terribly upset at what they believed to be 'the message' of the film. It never ceases to amaze me that intelligent people can believe just because a film depicts something it means it must be celebrating it. .

I wouldn't say it was a great film, but it was certainly nothing like what it was marketed as. As you say, some kind of slasher meets the Slender Man myth.

No idea if this is unpopular, but not being a big fan of the Iron Man films, I hesitantly watched Iron Man 3, and thought it was fabulous.
Much better than the first 2 IMO. Action packed and hilarious to boot.
And I watched Man Of Steel the day after and thought it was utter tripe.

Another vote for THE LAST STAND being a very enjoyable action movie...

And, as I see you lot talking about THE TALL MAN, it reminded me of THE TALL GUY, deffo the funniest Richard Curtis-written movie and one of my favourite comedies ever...

'I will help you when I see fit. You forfeited the right to being treated in a reasonable manner when you made the decision to put a vacuum-cleaner pipe up your bottom...'

Fucking ace...

Last Stand is an OK movie but considering it's by Kim Jee Woon I was expecting something less workmanlike. There's an occasional flash of inventive camerawork, but apart from that it might as well have been directed by Brett Ratner on a good day.

Just don't listen to Elab's assertion that it has satirical undertones. She's giving more credit than it actually deserves.

Well, I never read an Iron Man comic in my life and yet I thought the third film was rather spiffing.

What a completely delusional cunt I turned out to be.

Actually, Flemings books are well worth a read. Often different to the films and quite wonderfully un-PC in places...

Is The Last Stand the Arnie movie that spent about 14 hours furiously masturbating itself into a coma over a magic sports car, that could fool police by turning off its headlights (Chief Wiggum: "A GHOST CAR!"), and had Forrest Whittaker walking around looking lost as if he'd walked onto the set by mistake, and wasn't allowed to leave until he hobbled around looking gormless in a raincoat for the camera, and had Jornny Knoxville... in it, and featured such classic Arnie dialogue as "UHWUARGH UARGH HURGH ARGHHHUARHGH UUGHH," and "...I feel old," and contained the only known instance in the history of Western Civilisation where an American actually said "Bye Bye" at the end of a phone call?

Yeah it was alright Once it actually got to the last stand it was possibly the most entertained I've been in the cinema all year, it just took a while to get going.

Much better than The Expendables...
