Iron Man 3 is not that bad on a second viewing.

It's actually worse.

Apart from that stupid Mandarin plot twist, the films many plot holes are even more obvious.

I have to say, that Mandarin plot twist was my favourite thing in all of the IM movies... certainly better than the relentlessly dull CGI arse-bollocks that was the climatic action scene of IM3...

I found Iron Man 3 to be a big disappointment only watched it for the first time this week so might have to give it another go but for me I still think Iron Man is the best of the series.

I've never understood why people complain about the use of CGI in the climax to superhero movies. You're really watching the wrong kind of film if you don't like CGI.

Also, Iron Man 3 is definitely the worst film from Marvel Studios so far... but the script and action sequences still make for a fun ride. You've just got to put aside the awfulness of the plot twist.

I didn't hate IM3 but it was an odd beast. It definitely felt like a Shane Black film but with a superhero stuck on the backside. But it was still a shite sight better than IM2.

I want my bord.

raging bull isn't that great. strangely paced, irritating performance from a comparably overrated actor. i think overall it's a fairly one dimensional character study. and i love martin scorsese.

Raging Bull is fantastic, but it's neither Scorsese's best picture nor the best boxing film around.

On the subject of Raging Bull, I think Joe Pesci's performance is better than De Niro's.

I'm with you on that one, Hood Man.  Raging Bull is excellent, but there's only so much beautifully-filmed B+W misery I can take... whereas Rocky makes my heart swell and my throat tighten up every time...

Sure, the scenes of spousal abuse are pretty hard to watch but on the whole I've always found Raging Bull bloody hilarious.

^^^ THIS, 100%!!!

I don't get the hate for SKYLINE.  A pretty decent b-movie with some excellent effects and all done on a very low budget.  So much better than B:LA, which had amazing visuals and a huge budget, but was like something a drunk 12-year old would have written... watched some of it last night and, wow, it was awful...

If the quality of the CGI is poor, or if CGI is used for scenes where practical effects could have been more effective, then I think any criticism that may arise from that is perfectly valid.

I don't think that's generally the case these days - I can't think of any recent superhero film I've seen that doesn't have good CG work in the end sequences. Well, maybe Man of Steel but it was hard to tell with so much carnage going on.

I always laugh my back off at the scene when Jake asks Joey to punch him in the face. And Joey slamming Salvi's head in the car door. And the 'you fuck my wife?' bit. And who could forget 'your mother sucks fuckin' big fuckin' elephant dicks. Ya got that?'

The Fast And Furious series is a much better action movie franchise than the James Bond series.

No. I haven't seen Fast 4 or 6 but out of the others that I have seen I would this only really applies to 5 and even at that it depends on what you want from your action movie. I think Bond wins by pure numbers, because there are enough great Bond movies to cancel out the bad (Moore ) ones

I'm guessing it's because Daniel Craig isn't in any Fast and Furious movies.

Ok, here goes:

Every film made before 1968 sucks. 2001 A Space Odyssey was the first ever good film.

The only good James Bond is Daniel Craig.

Man of Steel is a terrible film

As is Star Trek Into Darkness

CGI should be banned and replaced by Star Wars-esque models.

Michael Bay is the anti-Christ

The greatest trilogy ever is the Matrix

I'll address your other points later, but the points I put in bold kind of contradict each other in a BIG way seeing as The Matrix is renowned for it's advancements in SFX and CGI!

I was watching The Thin Man earlier today. The comment is disproven.

Also 2001 is not a good film.
