Mad Max is not that great.
However Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior remains a masterpiece.

I agree with the above.

I will add that Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome is a fantastic movie.

On its own merits yes i would agree, it only pales into mediocrity when compared to the film it followed and the fact that the climax is just an inferior copy of the Truck chase from The Road Warrior (Still one of the best chase/action scenes of all time without any CGI)

Yes it is inferior in almost every way to Mad Max 2, however it goes even further into post apocalyptic territory and the whole Captain Walker thing is just amazing.

Is there any new news on FURY ROAD?

And perhaps my new unpopular opinion is that if Mel isn't in it (even if he gets killed off in the first 20 minutes or something), then my desire to see this film is somewhat diminished?  Tom Hardy is great, but Mel IS Max!

Wasn't there supposed to be a fourth MAD MAX movie, some years back, with Heath Ledger as Max's son, but it fell through?  Or is my memory playing tricks on me?  Wouldn't be the first time...

I heard something about that Heath Ledger thing too, a long time ago it seems.

Part of me is still convinced that we'll never get Fury Road as updates are so thin on the ground, which doesn't bode well for a supposedly large scale production.

Agreed.

The Road Warrior is the only decent Mad Max film. The other two films in the trilogy are forgettable.

I don't like the X-Men Days of Future Past character posters... I really like the idea behind it, but all I see are the points where the faces don't match up. I can't help it, and it's really distracting.

God this has just reminded me what truly awful, awful posters this film had. The rushed production that it went though is all over this film.

The Lone Ranger is great fun. Overlong perhaps but a good old fashioned adventure with one of the greatest action sequences of all time at the end.

oh and Depp is not very Jack Sparrow esque in it.

I agree, I had fun too. Although I did think Tonto was just Jack Sparrow.

Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but Michael Clayton is a terrible film. The first film in years that I have decided to stop midway through.

Bit of an odd one this, but I happened to watch most of it last night for the first time in years

Fierce Creatures is actually quite funny and entertaining. It's not a patch on 'Wanda' but few films are. It's more quietly amusing than laugh out loud funny, but Kevin Kline really steals the whole thing as the father/son duo

I was so bored watching Michael Clayton - I don't understand the praise it got. There was nothing memorable in it at all.

While we are on the subjuect of Mad Max, has anyone seen this for sale:
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C391268

Went to have a look at it the weekend as it is only an hour from me and was lucky enough to actually go out for a ride in it (Not driving unfortunately) which blew my mind!
The sound of this things 6.5ltr V8 revving up almost made my brother in law poo himself it was so loud!
As the mechanic in Mad Max 2 said "A piece of history...."
Now all i need to do is save up 79,000!

Oblivion is a very entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable sci fi with a great performance from Cruise and some of the best sci fi/ post apoclayptic visuals in a long time.

I had the urge to twist his smug, creepy scientologist nose all the way through. But aye, visually it wasn't bad. Apart from said irritating conk.

I don't even understand how Tilda Swinton got an Oscar. From the hour or so that I saw, she was in it for a maximum of five minutes!

It wasn't even her screen time that got me. I genuinely cannot remember her performance being at all remarkable. Solid, perhaps - not bad, but there was no moment when watching it I felt in anyway moved or impressed or even felt for the character.

Her screen time was around the 15 minute mark, which is roughly the same as Anne Hathaway's time on screen in Les Miserable, where she won essentially every award going.

I only recently watched Les Mis, and while I know it's a waste of time giving it consideration I still shook my head when I thought back to the adulation and awards she had heaped on her for that. The cynical part of me thinks she won half those awards just for cutting her hair. Not bad, but a long, long way from a staggering performance.

Interesting to look at the US chart & see This Is The End has shot back up the chart with screenings going from 34 to 2,161? it's as if they were trying to cash in on The World's End being out. Surely not?

I might have said this before, but TITE was about 15 -20 minutes of genuinely funny stuff surrounded by so much relentless fucking tedium...

I had tears rolling down my face at some of the three stooges remake. It was that funny.
My 8 year old son said it was the most incredible thing he's ever seen.

Not sure how it would stand up on further viewings but the impact of the "Donut Remover" gag and the spontaneity of some of the mishaps had me in pieces.

Michael Bay films are mostly horribly misjudged and I hear that this no different.

However, I'm not narrow minded enough to begrudge your enjoyment. If it worked for you, that's great.

Ha, I saw this the other day and I really enjoyed it too. My unpopular opinion is that it was a really entertaining movie and very funny to boot. The Rock was great in it.

Iron Man 3 is not that bad on a second viewing.

It's actually worse.

Apart from that stupid Mandarin plot twist, the films many plot holes are even more obvious.
