Rosemary's Baby is terrible, just about the most boring movie I have ever seen....

Couldn't disagree more. I love that film, and would honestly call it one of, if not the finest horror film I've ever seen.

WHY!?.....It develops the characters but drags on too long and then no great pay off/ending!

Definitely don't think it drags at all. Actually think it's really well paced leading up to the finale. It all builds up and builds up and then the climax genuinely did shock me. The rape scene earlier I also found really shocking. It's the idea of what's happening that's pretty damn scary, and the fact we only get a glimpse of the eyes is so effective. Doesn't need to show anything to scare you which is a great quality. It's one of the only horror films to make me feel uneasy or frightened in the least bit. Aside from that I think it's a masterpiece in building tension etc.

Agree to disagree I guess.

I watched it years ago and won't watch Polanski films nowadays but I have distinct memories of being bored senseless by the film.

there is no such thing as a bad james bond film, merely great, good or disappointing.

I'm not a fan of any of the Moore films, he is the Adam West of the James Bond Canon. Even the Bond songs of his era are pretty shit and aren't very Bond like in my opinion.

I've never liked that song as a Bond theme. For me a Bond theme should be something James Bond would listen to and I can't even picture Moore's Bond listening to either The Beatles or Paul McCartney. Connery's Bond even makes a quip about not liking the Beatles in Goldfinger.

It's a great song but I've never liked is a Bond song.

I was watching a doc on Sky a few days back called Bond Girls Are Forever (I was bored and I couldn't be bothered to move my body slightly to the left to pick up the remote) and it struck me how some of the women in the Moore era Bond films are treated so badly.

I mean, in Live and Let Die Bond basically fools Jane Seymour into sleeping with him, in one film (I forget which) he threatens to break a woman's arm, and in Octopussy he doesn't take no for an answer from Maud Adams when it comes to consensual sex.

These things are often conveniently overlooked by those who call Daniel Craig a blonde thug. At least he didn't come off as a bit of an oily pervert.

That's a fair point. So if you don't like LALD, how do you feel about 'Nobody Does It Better'?

This is a song about a woman who was, basically, fucked stupid by Bond, hence 'nobody does it better...'

C'mon, you know it's true... 'it just keeps me running and just keeps me coming... how do you learn to do the things you do?'

Do you think Homer bursts a blood vessel every time he hears that famous line from Live and Let Die?

Not too fussed about NDIB, apart from LALD the Moore themes are all soppy ballads about (as MonsterCat pointed) a dirty old man

Iron man 3 was decidedly average.

The Avengers is the only Marvel movie I think worthy of more than 3 stars..

I 100% agree with this. Loved The Avengers, everything else has been average to really bad.

Oh, and probably the most unpopular opinion on here...there's two good James Bond films and both include Daniel Craig. Even they aren't great.

The first Iron Man worked quite well in my opinion and I found the first half of Captain America to be very good (just a shame it had the second half).

The other stuff is meh.

Ah, right.

Bond themes are probably the only contemporary music Homer ever listens to.

That would make more sense, but no.

It's such a strange line. It decides to end in a preposition after deciding not to end in a preposition

De Niro's best performance since Casino was in Stardust.

Denzel Washington hasn't tried since Training Day.

No worse than the women from the Connery era though. The missus and I have been going through the blu-ray boxset (we're up to Die Another Day - shudder) recently and we were astonished at just how misogynistic those early Bonds are. In From Russia With Love he gives Tatiana a good slap. He practically rapes Pussy Galore in Goldfinger. And in Thunderball he does the same with the nurse in the health-clinic, and it all made for some very uncomfortable viewing. The sexism in You Only live Twice is virtually jaw-dropping. In Diamonds Are Forever he strangles a young lovely with her own bikini-bra, plus he also gives Tiffany a good slap to put her in her place.

Moore's Bond was definitely a perv but I don't think his behaviour was any worse than Connery's. And to be fair to Moore he always said he was uncomfrotable with playing Bond as any kind of thug. But I will NOT have the Moore era dissed by anyone. At least by The Spy Who Loved Me the female leads were holding their own more and becoming more than just bed-mates for Bond. During our recent Bondathon I have to say I had more fun with the Moore Bonds than any of the others. And I think a lot of it was down to how old Moore was always committed to the character, even when he was clearly too old. After Thunderball Connery was basically phoning-in his performance.

A View To A Kill was definitely a bit shit, despite a cracking theme and a great villain. The Moore era had some of the best Bond themes, that's for sure, unlike the Brosnans.

Fair point about The Spy Who Loved Me. By any standard it's a really fun film, and Barbara Bach was a bit of a sexy badass.

I know Moonraker comes in for a bit of flack, but at least it had a brainy Bond girl and I think Moore's "a woman" comment when he first meets Goodhead was a bit of a sly dig at Bond's chauvinism.

A View To A Kill has Christopher Walken, Dolph Lundgren and Grace Jones slapping herself on the face while she laughs. It wins all the points.

Having re-watched it recently I have to say that despite its silliness, cheesiness and crap double-taking pigeons I still really, really enjoyed it. Moore is on top form, it's really well-paced and plotted, and Drax is one of the best Bond villains ever with his celestial lair and his diabolical Hitler-esque master-plan. And let's not forget one of the scariest scenes involving a clown ever in the history of cinema. And what an amazing score by John Barry. I even like the funky disco-remix of the theme song at the end! And like you say Holly Goodhead (snort) is a great Bond-girl who takes no shit from Rog.
