Never been a fan of Horror film in general but don't get the praise The Cabin the Woods gets, maybe it's because Joss Whedons name was attached ? Thought it was terrible..

Oh, duck down and cover yourself as the wrath of the Whedonites descends upon you...

Just kidding. I'm a fan of Mr Whedon, loved a lot of his stuff, but CABIN was, for me, a very average horror flick (although the last 20minutes were pretty cool, IMO)...

That seems to be the general consensus around here, or at least from what I've seen. I loved it personally. What are your reasons for finding it terrible, Dirk?

I am a Whedon fan but that is not why I like Cabin In The Woods. I like it because it plays up the tropes of horror films while being a loving homage to said tropes. I don't like everything Whedon does (*points angrily at Dollhouse*) so I don't really get this 'people only liked X because they like (insert name here)' way of thinking.

Isn't that what people say about the SCREAM series? And I hate every one of those piece-of-shit films...

Again, I don't hate CITW (and I even liked DOLLHOUSE... c'mon, season 2 really kicked ass!), perhaps I need to watch it again...

I like the Scream series. Apart from the third film, that was atrocious.

I love the Scream films to bits but I agree that the third isn't up there with the rest. I do like it, but it's just not as much fun and there are too many annoying characters, like the group of actors.

I love the Scream series but for me Scream 2 is the worst one.

Scream 2 is FULL of plot holes but Scream 3 has some of THE most annoyinng characters in film history. Plus, it fucks with the original's backstory a lot, making some of it redundant.

Out of the four, I watch Scream and Scream 2 the most, Scream 4 the least and Scream 3 never.

Just curious to what the plot holes are in Scream 2? I believe the motivations of the killers are a little off and consequently the reveal is slightly flat but not aware of plot holes as it's been a while since I've seen it and now I really really want to know!

I'd say the motives are pretty clear: (highlight) Billy Loomis' mum wants revenge for her son's death and she needed help; enter Mickey the psycho who craves fame (a running theme in the series) and just wants to stab people.

Just 'how did the killer get there' kind of stuff. It happens a lot in Scream 2 especially at the end of the car crash scene. There are more that I am blanking on at the moment.

The Scream series should have ended at a trilogy and with Neve Campbells character becoming Ghostface.

Similarly with Scream 4, there's a lot of "how did the killer manage that/the killer was taller when we saw the actual killing". The problem with these reveals is that I don't think they use the actual actor as the killer for a lot of the scenes, so when the killer/killers is/are revealed, you start questioning height, feats of strength etc.

Yes and no. I don't mind the ending of Scream 3, how they end Sydney's arc but the rest of the film was amateur hour.

Having seen Man Of Steel three times now i am convinced that its the best Superman film ever made and better than any of Marvels output.

And THIS, up to a point! Enjoyable, but overall a really dumb film that is pretending to be clever and, while it starts off fine, goes more and more downhill.

The Ring 1 & 2, The crazies, Dawn of the Dead, The Fog, Friday the 13th, Mirrors are horror remakes that I liked.

I'd agree with The Ring 1 and 2, Dawn Of The Dead and, up to a point, Mirrors.

I think Cabin in the Woods is very clever if you know all the tropes it is parodying. I even think it is enjoyable if you don't.

The Friday The 13th remake is just as good as the original.

No way!! The remake was worse than all but two of the actual series. Didn't even feel like a Friday film, rather more like the Chainsaw remake.

But whoever said the House Of Wax remake was good - I agree. Very underrated. Though it isn't really anything to do with the 1953 film.

I had least hope those two are Manhattan and Goes To Hell.
