Maybe "better" is the wrong word, but I enjoyed it a hell of a lot more than the others. For me, Shutter Island was a 10, Casino/King of Comedy are solid 9s, Goodfellas/Raging Bull are 8s.

Huh, apparently that opinion wasn't so unpopular after all.

I think Moore is the best, but Breeze is annoying and I don't want to be seen as siding with him. Which is the problem with the anti-Craig brigade generally - I think all pf Craig's Bond films are flawed, but I feel embaressed to critisise them as the CNB lot's arguments are so idiotically reductive, you don't want to be associated, and everyone starts from the position of wanting to like Craig to avoid being grouped by the petty backlash

quote:

Rhubarb, that is a very similar stance to my own. In terms of entertainment value I find Craig's the least outright entertaining but wish to disassociate myself from those who have in the past complained about his looks and hair colour as if that was a valid argument so will not get involved.

It's a shame a vocal minority of arseholes have ruined any actual debate about the Bond films.

In some respect though it is also the pro Craig who do not respond well to critique and automatically go to the dismissing any criticism as a ridiculous thing automatically dismissing it as being from the anti Craig Daffy Duck brigade (early Daffy Duck not when he became the straight man Daffy Duck for Speedy Gonzales whom I hate))..

there should not a 2d version of a movie filmed specifically in 3d.
the format must stand on its own and be as high quality as 3d can get.
no more hedging of bets by studios with a 2d version.

But the majority of people are going to be watching it in 2D when it's released on DVD/Blu-ray anyway, so there may as well just be a 2D version in cinemas along with it. I also like to have the choice between the two formats.

2d versions of 3d films show that the studios have no real faith in 3d and try to find a way to make money using both formats.
better to try to get people in the cinemas with a quality 3d/imax event than letting them think its better to stay at home with a disc playing on their tvs.

classic bond is more entertaining than 'quantum' and 'skyfall'.

It is fine to say that you prefer Moore but what Coolio and others do is to make it a battle between a so-called "true" Bond and a Bond In Name Only. Which is a nonsense.

I enjoy the first two Burton Batman films more than than the Nolan flicks (although I agree they are better directed) - I wouldn't dare suggest they were the proper Batman films.

Of course not, everyone knows the Adam West one is the only proper Batman film.

I'm not trolling. I'm just making an observation. You were mocking Dannybohy for "being ridiculous", which is a bit like Richard Littlejohn trundling up to Peter Hitchens and calling him a cunt. While onlookers may applaud the sentiment they will surely not fail to be amused by the irony.

I can be abrasive and moody, but I'm not being a troll. Should I wish to flap around the forums, annoying people by repetitively dangling the same tedious, flacid one-note opinion in their faces like a rancid cock then I assure you that I will turn to you for advice before anyone else.

You dont need any advice from me, you are doing quite well at this by yourself already.

Care to elaborate? I mean, for you I'm referring to your Daniel Craig obsession and the preposterous and petulant things you say in relation to Bond in general. Your childish myopia in this regard is legendary. Perhaps you can explain how I am emulating you exactly? What single opinion - other than you being a troll (which isn't an opinion, just a shared observation) - am I pounding like a cheap drum for attention? You should expand on this for the whole "I know you are but what am I?" approach is kinda pathetic.

I like how I get blocked for asking a simple question, yet DC gets to say all this and remain unblocked.

Clearly something is amiss here!

Looking back through the older pages in this thread, the amount of people who incorrectly use the word 'pretentious' is hilarious.

While I'm here...

Vertigo isn't even Hitchcock's best film, never mind the best ever which S&S listed it as.
The Matrix Reloaded, while no where near as good as the first,is still good with some superb action sequences, although Revolutions is absolute dross.
THe Dark Knight Rises is the best in the trilogy, while The Dark Knight would come in third in my rankings.
Elijah Wood is far worse in LoTR than Orlando Bloom is, who seems to get most of the flack thanks to Kermode.

I'm not overly keen on Hans Zimmer. I find his work unpleasantly distracting most of the time, although his work on Gladiator was excellent.

The Avengers - mediocrity defined. Looks like a TV show with expensive effects. Way too overlong (the aircraft carrier scene in the middle goes on for an interminable amount of time) with far too many uninteresting machinations for such a simple story - this is an alien invasion film where the invasion doesn't bloody start until act three. Roland Emmerich wouldn't pull this shit. Action scenes lack any amount of imagination or energy. Characters rely completely on you having seen their own films (yes that is a valid criticism) and are otherwise less than paper thin. I liked Captain America and Thor in their respective films but they are thinner than a centimeter line here, while Iron Man is still a dick but with added unfunny Whedonism.

The only time the film became remotely interesting was when it was brought up that Nick Fury might be more more sinister than he seems - a geniunely intriguing twist that is waved away as quickly as it is introduced.

One laugh. And two good moments towards the end.

2/5

You people are idiots.
