Darren Aronofsky, Joss Whedon, JJ Abrams, Terrence Malick, Wes Anderson.

None of the above have ever made a 'bad' film.

Agree with you on Joss Whedon and JJ Abrams but  Terrence Malick made The Thin Red Line which I found boring and Wes Anderson made The Royal Tenenbaums which was awful. Black Swan was ok while Reqiuem for a Dream was boring.
But hey  life would be boring if we all liked the same thing.

Can't agree here, Tenenbaums is Anderson's masterpiece... granted his others are pretty damn good, but Tenenbaums is tops

I'm always right, especially on how overrated Olaf's mum is.

Boring is just another way of saying ''I didn't like this film'' when asked why you didn't like it.

Rock of Ages was probably the most purely entertaining movie I've seen this year.

It also has, hands down, the greatest soundtrack of any movie ever made.

*huge Drive soundtrack pic*

That doesn't have Pour Some Sugar On Me or Cum On Feel The Noize on it, ergo it's not as good.

For me, the Drive soundtrack has the edge because it doesn't have badly performed karaoke versions of rock songs that were never that good to begin with.

Could be worse, though. Rock of Ages could have had Nickleback on the soundtrack. Eh, Tommy? Eh?

While I agree that the Drive soundtrack is superior, I disagree that the songs in Rock Of Ages were never that good to begin with

The Drive soundtrack is aces. It makes me want to drive around Los Angeles in a cool as fuck jacket.

Except I can't drive, I don't live in LA and I'll never be as cool as Ryan Gosling. : ( <----- Sad face.

Agreed with the top line, and a sad acknowledgement and agreement with the bottom line.

As for movie soundtracks, I think High Fidelity's soundtrack is all kinds of brilliant. In fact I think High Fidelity is one of the funniest films made in the last 12 years. Unpopular opinion?

There's not really been any decent competition, TV's been the home of good comedy since the 90's.

Although, Hot Rod and Napoleon Dynamite make me lol.

That's true. Archer, Community and Parks and Rec are all funnier in one episode alone then most of the comedy films of the 00's. Though I do really like Anchorman and Hot Rod, Napoleon Dynamite I wasn't a fan of.

A version of Burn It To The Ground would have been the icing on the cake, tbh. Sadly it wasn't released in the 80s.

The film did highlight how dull today's music scene is in comparison, though.

Well, the music that gets constant radio-play, sure.

Here's one for you lot, and I'm going to elaborate on my opinion instead of just saying "lol it's overrated".

The adulation that Anchorman receives has always baffled me. It does a couple of pretty chucklesome moments and I do have a lot of time for McKay and Ferrell's later collaborations like Step Brothers and Talladega Nights. But for me, Anchorman isn't really that funny. There's very little wit to it. It is essentially people just saying random weird things and shouting a lot.

I think it's because it's more of an ensemble piece wheras everything else Ferrell has done has been all about him; Step Brothers aside.

I think Anchorman is great. It's not my favourite modern comedy (that's still probably Zoolander) but it's definitely up there with the best in (relatively) recent years. I've got a lot of love for Talladega Nights and Step Brothers as well, Ferrell and Reilly make a good pairing. I also have a lot of time and love for The Other Guys and Blades of Glory.

So yeah, when Ferrell is on form I think he's head and shoulders above his peers. He has appeared in some dross (hello Wedding Crashers, Bewitched and Land of the Lost) but I think he has far more hits than misses.

High Fidelity is aces (after all, it does have a line about Evil Dead 2 in it) - the bit where they beat up Tim Robbins in the store is utterly hiliarious (mostly becuase it's completely unexpected). Certainly not an unpopular opinion.

But it's no Black Dynamite...

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but I think Land of the Lost is great. I was reduced to a childish giggling mess on more than one occasion during that film (using the big crystal to vibrate and sing Cher being a good example). It isn't as good as Step Brothers or Anchorman, but I rate it above some of Ferrell's other films (Ricky Bobby, Other Guys, for example).

I really enjoy Land of the Lost too.....fun times. I like everything Ferrell does actually, I will watch anything he appears in and will most likely end up enjoying it (not Bewitched though, never Bewitched!) Step Brothers is the best, the amount of insane is awesome.
