ORIGINAL: vad3r The Master There Will Be Blood Punch-Drunk Love Magnolia Boogie Nights Hard Eight He's the only one that comes close, but he made Hard Eight. Which is below average at the very best. I don't think it's fair to judge Hard Eight like that, as we've only ever seen the truncated version. Personally I think it's great, but his only non-masterpiece. I hear the 160 minute cut is more in keeping with the later films too. I'd agree with Malick too, and throw Wes Anderson's name in to the ring too. As great as those guys are though, Aronofsky included, I don't think any of them have made a film quite as good as There Will Be Blood or The Master. Good call. Wes Anderson is probably my favourite director working today. I've yet to see The Master but I'd personally rate everything Wes Anderson's done apart from Bottle Rocket and The Darjeeling Limited higher than There Will Be Blood (which I do really like). I'd also rate P.T.'s own Boogie Nights and Punch Drunk Love ahead of it as well to be honest.
