Mask of the Phantasm is completely overrated and boring. If the cut scenes in Arkham City were edited together it would make a much better Batman film.

Whereas I agree that it's vastly overrated, I wouldn't call it boring. But then, this is the unpopular opinion thread.

I find it funny that the unpopular opinion thread is full of people arguing about why people who post their's are wrong. They already know what they're saying is unpopular... that's the point.

Space Jam is an underrated (animation) film.

Space Jam is awesome! Used to watch it all the time as a kid.

Me too.
When you look back on it,visually, the animation is gorgeous. The tones and overall color palette were used brilliantly on the characters and on the general design of the film.
Great family film.

All of that, and it has Bill Murray in it

Time to argue with your point! WOuld you rather they just stated their opinion and moved on? Where is the fun in that!?

ALL my opinions seem to be unpopular at the moment...

Mind you. Depends who you ask, I suppose.

Here's a few:

Bane is easily the best Batman Villain in any of the films.

Mark Ruffallo really wasn't that amazing as Hulk, good....but nothing spectacular.

Yeah I'd maybe agree with Bane being the best villain. Don't know, it's way too close between him and The Joker.

Maybe unpopular on these boards I'm not sure, but Chinatown, while a great film, isn't even in the top 10 of the 70's let alone one of the greatest ever.

Talking of greats...12 Angry Men is one of the greatest movies ever made (probably not unpopular, but I just watched it and wanted to share that )

I'd put Bane second. He was the perfect villain for TDKR (a physical force that exposes Batman's weakness and age), and I think Tom Hardy nailed it (even the voice), but he wasn't better than Ledger's Joker.

I guess it depends on if you think a better villain is one who can beat the hero in a fight and actually be a physical threat, or one who can fuck with him mentally. I love both.

The Joker, Ledger's great performance aside, just didn't add up in my head. If he was genuinelly insane I found it very difficult to believe he could rise to any kind of position of power. He was weak physically and while he was clearly somewhat intelligent it always felt to me as if someone else was behing the whole plan...he was just the puppet.

Bane has everything: intelligence, strength, best voice ever and enough emotional depth for the audience to genuinelly feel a little sorry for him towards the end (just me?). Bane was what Batman could have become.

Agree, Chinatown is seriously overrated. Many better Neo-Noir films about.

Id rather see a Michael Bay superhero movie over a wanky Nolan/Snyder version any day of the week. I think he could of made a great Superman movie.

Agree partially with that. Michael Bay gets far too much flack. He has his flaws, but his movies are always fun...something I can't say about Nolan [though he's a fairly good director when he's not making Batman films]. I do think Snyder on his own could do a solid job of Superman. Nolan, though, will screw it up......though of course everyone will say how great it is!

My biggest problem with Bay is that his films are very rarely fun.

Nah, it's great. It's not just the best Bay film; it might just be the best film...ever.

To be honest there is very little that separates Snyder and Bay.

Both are very good at the surface details like cinematography, costumes and effects, but neither of them are particularly great at narratives.

The best Batman villains are Burgess Meredith and Frank Gorshin.

This.

Transformers in particular is such a joyless, cynical, focus grouped turd of a film.

I don't have a problem with Bay. His films are generally forgettable, but none of them offend me in the way that they seem to with a lot of people. Some of them are pretty entertaining.

So far I have enjoyed most of Michael Bay's work. Bad Boys II is his worst film. I think the Bay hate is over the top now but every one has opinions which I respect it just seams the hate for him has come out of nowhere.

Without going on too much of a rant I have to say that all the best Michael Bay films or moments are rarely, if ever, anything to with him: rather he just has an actor I particularly like or find particularly attractive.

Not really out of nowhere, have you seen Transfomers 2? I'm not a Bay hater but he certainly lost points from me with that vile racist, misogynistic piece of robot scrotum.

Hi

Yes I have seen it. I found it to be the worst of the series but I do love Transformers 1 a lot. I hated the twins. And why did we have to have balls on a transformer.

The Hobbit looks absolute shit.

Completely the opposite of everything that made LotR great. It looks like Harry Potter but with more PG and dwarf 'comedy'.

The Hobbit is a much more light hearted story than Lord of the Rings.Think the beginning of Fellowship and you're there. And as I said before, you're judging this on a two minute teaser trailer and some snippets seen in video blogs. Overreaction is the only way I can use to describe your opinion on this.

Yeah, apart from the dwarves looking a little iffy, it's pretty much what I expected a Peter Jackson version of the Hobbit to be. If it was just the Lord of the RIngs all over again, what would be the point? Especially from the same director!

Although, in general, I can't stand remakes (the vast majority of them being boring, unimaginative, lazy shite) I'm re-watching Snyder's Dawn of the Dead and I think I may prefer it to the original (which I fucking love.) It's well written, and (ironically given the subject) incredibly vital. Although it lacks the consumerist sub-text of the original, it's still huge fun.
