What about Leo screaming " Oh JesUS NOOO!!!! oOOOooOOHH" after Cotillard goes base jumping? He's so sad. Sad is an emotion.

I haven't seen Slumdog Millionaire, but I remember being severely underwhelmed by The Hurt Locker considering the amount of hype it got. I would even go as far as to say that had Bigelow not been Cameron's ex-wife and going head to head with Avatar at the Oscars, it wouldn't of had the media hype it did.

I enjoyed The Hurt Locker (more than Avatar, if we have to compare them).

Slumdog I felt was let down by a poor leading man in Dev Patel, who seems like he just came off the set of Eastenders.

ANY type of film should be filmed, we shouldn't disregard musicals just because you don't like them

Many people do like musicals, so if there is an audience for them, why not? Do you have a reason for it other than you just don't like them?

This is the My Unpopular Opinion thread and I'm afraid that that is my opinion, if you enjoy 'em, hats off to ya !
I know it's unpopular because my good lady disagrees.
I have no problem with musicals at the theatre, in fact I have enjoyed several there, but I have never enjoyed a musical in film. I just feel it is the wrong media.

Not at all, but I don't enjoy any of them mainly due to people burst into song for no apparrant reason. Just not my cup of tea at all.

There is usually a reason though. It's just a tool to help show whatever a character is feeling or move a scene along, much like a voiceover or action sequence.

Not trying to change your mind by the way, just engaging in discussion. I think film is a terrific medium for musicals, it's no coincidence they became the staple when sound came in (and are still huge in Bollywood).

I am not a huge fan of musicals but I don't think they should never make them. I think anyone should have the freedom to make the film they want. If you don't enjoy them, don't watch them, nobody is forcing you but they should be made

I feel the same way about rom-coms starring Kate Hudson and Katherine Heigl.

Duly noted Superdan and discussion is why were here after all - I appreciate your position and will stand beside you, sword in hand to defend anyones right to voice their opinion, however I just don't agree. I have tried, believe me, but while I can happily suspend belief for any Sci Fi or Horror you care to name, I just don't seem to be able to get my head round people bursting into song during a movie.Perhaps it's just me . . . . ? ? ?

I meant any rom-com starring either actress. Should have phrased that better.

They are just awful actors.

Avengers Assemble is not the best Marvel movie.

Hulk > Thor > Iron Man > Avengers Assemble > Captain America > Iron Man 2 > The Incredible Hulk.

Ironically, the best one is the one that isn't technically "canon", because The Incredible Hulk was essentially a re-start.

For me:

Avengers Assemble > Iron Man > Incredible Hulk > Thor > Captain America > Iron Man 2

Hulk doesn't really count, but if it did it would be next to Iron Man 2. I've never understood the love it gets. It's cripplingly navel-gazing and dull at times, the dog monsters are risible and the Hulk looks like he's made out of Play-Doh (even at the time it came out).

I agree with you about Hulk. By all means try to make an intelligent comic book film about duality and father & son relationships, but try to make it entertaining as well. Hulk failed horribly in that department.

Also: I always thought of Iron Man 2 as a major step-down from the immensely entertaining first flick. At times it felt like more of a set up for other Marvel universe films than a film in its own right, and the main villain was rubbish. Dude got his ass kicked twice by Stark with very little effort. Really dull stuff.

I still found the Ang Lee Hulk way more entertaining than that other bland, generic, boring, poorly written, pretty much following every definition of mediocrity on the book, etc... that came later.
