ORIGINAL: Ripper Connery multi faceted yes, but Moore? The raised eyebrow and lowered eyebrow were about all the facets of his bond. He was a mighty bond though. Why the particular disdain for Brosnan? It maybe that he is the Bond of my generation (although i was born into the Dalton era, however being only one at the time of his final outing did preclude me from experiancing them first hand somewhat), but I personally think he is the best since Connery and possibly even of them all (Dan Craig naturally is exempt for the mo). Moreover, Goldeneye aside, I thought it was his films which did him the disservice, he was a great Bond throughout. You speak the truth Ripper Yes, for an actor, Moore isn't up there with the greats! However, I quite admire him because he has admitted this. I seen him once saying: "Acting range: left eyebrow raised, right eyebrow raised", and other things such as on the AVTAK disc, the audio commentary he did, he said the film "The Man Who Haunted Himself" is the closest he has been to acting. That, the fact that all but three of his Bond films I really enjoy and the charity work he does stops me from saying anything bad. As you point out he was a great Bond though, despite his shortcomings in the acting department. Though do you need to be Olivier to act in a Bond film? It's hardly Hamlet is it? I quite agree with your comments about Pierce though, however, I never have really heard much disdain for him. I do agree that the films, rather than himself was the reason he is maybe not regarded as highly as he should be. Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies (TND which I like more now than ever and GE too really, I knew I liked it before, but watching it this week, I really like it) are great films. The World Is Not Enough didn't really live up to the first two, the rest of the film couldn't really match the opening sequence. The less said about Die Another Day, well! Again, good pre-credits sequence, but the film goes downhill from there. Unforunately, this is Pierce's swansong too. I must be one of the few people who likes all the actors to have played Bond, I think they all have brought something to the role.
