I hope this is true, the story of the show returning has been popping up periodicaly for the last year or two but this time there seems to be concrete details! Fingers crossed!

Yea, it was Billy West who announced it last time, but that was for new straight to dvd episodes. Hopefully David X Cohen is back on board, don't think he's been up to much since. Made my day, that and getting my degree

Well, it's a story in the Sun and there have been rumours of the show's return before so I'm going to take this with a pinch of salt.  If it is true, however, it's fantastic news.  Whilst it was never going to have the same extensive fanbase as The Simpsons it's still a great show and never deserved to get cancelled.

I've heard rumours and talk for ages. I hope it arrives soon.

About a year ago, the sun did 'confirm' the new James Bond ... about 6 months before the official word came out, but they did say it was Daniel Craig ....

Comingsoon.net have also confirmed it.

Comedy Central has resurrected the former Fox series Futurama, ordering 13 episodes to debut in 2008. The deal builds upon the cable channel's acquisition of the 72-episode library last fall.

Discussions about a revival of the half-hour began in earnest earlier this year between Futurama producer
20th Century Fox Television
and series creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen.

Actors
Billy West
, Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio are onboard for the new episodes that will continue the story of the pizza delivery boy, accidentally frozen for 1,000 years, who wakes up in the future.

Futurama has traveled a course similar to that of animated series Family Guy, which also was cancelled and later brought back after
DVD releases

Why only 13 episodes? That is a strange number, surely?

Mid season maybe? Start in January, so we get it sooner. Comedy Central usually only go for short seasons I think. Isn't South Park only about 13 eps a season? Could be wrong, don't watch it.

13 eps isn't really unusual, they are probably testing the water before making some more.

Y'see, I was going to say that but decided against it. I was also going to say stuff like 'oh my, yes' but since they are words on the screen nobody would know I was 'being' Farnsworth'

I was going to say bite my shiny metal ass too, but thats just rude

The amount of times Billy West has said this was happening is unbelievable, so I'm not going to believe it till I see it now, even if it was a different cast member that confirmed it this time.

At least Comedy Central won't screw around with the show like Fox.

Yeah, West did get a tad overexcited at times didn't he? It seemed like once a week he was saying it was happening on his site, bless him. It's not as though he's out of work, he just really must love working on the show.

Let's face it, comedy is a dead art form. Now tragedy, ha ha ha, that's funny.

great news, suppose 13 episodes as its basically a pilot run, thats how many were in the original 1st series. Probably allow them to get DVD's out quicker as well ala the new series of family guy.

wooooooo about time!
Futurama is hilarious and didnt deserve to be cancelled
those 4 seasons were better than anything in the past 6 seasons of The Simpsons
but how will they start this season...the last episode with Fry and Leela was lovely..will they be together with the show showing their lives as a couple or will something else happen to break them up?
option one please - and more Zoidberg!
