I was there and haven't been home long

I'll probably post a bit more tomorrow as I'm hungry and stuff. But a fantastic day, which was a long time coming!

Well DJ, managed to get past the tumble-weed and here I am. Bad start to the season but undefeated since September 23rd, looks like we're starting to come good, and with two 'easy' (Sunderland last year proving that no game is truly easy) games coming up hope to see us up to last years heights quicker than Aaron Lennon can slip the ball into the Blue section of London's net! COYS

We were shit.

After Zokora gave the ball away for their first goal we just couldn't keep the ball. And when we did have it we tried to run the ball straight through the middle of 6 defenders.

There is something seriously wrong with the way we played today.

I was at work today so couldn't watch the match live. Lucky I guess. Just seen the highlights on MOTD2 though.

Firstly it was a definite penalty but was it really necessary for Ghaly to roll so much after he was fouled?

I think Robinson should have saved the first goal. He gets beaten from distance to often in my opinion. Second goal was just shit.

Still as Jol said Defoe should have equalised and maybe things turn out different.

Overall though 10 games unbeaten up to today was great recovery after a slow start. Both cups are going well, home forms decent as usual just got to start winning away.

have to agree with you i think Robinson should have saved a couple of them, looked like his postitioning was slightly off and he got down wayyy to slow.

Unfortunately Dawson stepped in front Robinson blocking his view until late.

I've just bought a Reading program from a guy at work. I asked for it on Friday and even so now I really don't want it I couldn't say no.

Still no away win then. To be honest I'd agree with Andy Gray today that we didn't deserve it because we didn't show enough urgency at anytime really and especially after Tugay was sent off. We had a lot of attempts but most of them were shite, especially from Mido. Shooting practice for him this week I think.

Another point the Sky commentators kept going on about was Keane being left out after scoring a hat trick in midweek. Well he may have been disappointed not to play but I think it guarantees he plays against Leverkusen on Thursday and is therefore ahead of Defoe in Jol's thinking.

Finally a question about Ghaly. Not the sending off, (which I thought was harsh) but his general performances. Jol seems to like him but I can't really see why. Seems to me he gives the ball away to often and chooses the wrong option when he's in a decent position. What do others think?

He looks to me like Jenas did this time last year. And although I still don't rate him above Tainio, JJ is definately a better player now than he was then.  Maybe BMJ is looking to inject a bit more competition back into the midfield. Definately need midfield players to push forward and threaten goal, as JJ and Ghaly seem to be doing more of now, but I for one would like to see Zokora fill this role ....

Tonight's match isn't on TV. Five cocked up when they bought the rights so they are selling "tickets" to stream it for 4.99.

Or you can stream it for free from the German TV Channel ZDF.

Dammit - not working:-(

Alternatively it is being shown on Setanta Ireland.

First time we've scored 3 in the league this season and good goals as well. Great finishes from Defoe and Berbatov ( goal + 2 assists) and good goal on the break from Lennon.

Marlbranque looked good and some of his link up play with the front two was excellent as we played some really good football, just couldn't quite get it right at the final pass.

Solid at the back, Dawson brilliant as ever and Robinson commanded his area really well today. His handling was superb.

Finally well done to the Wigan player (possibly Kilbane) who hit the jumbotron with his volleyed effort at goal. Some effort to do that.

88 metres, according to Match of the Day. After letting in that backpass against Croatia, that's two legendary things he's done this season!

Thought Jol got his tatics wrong tonight, especially starting Lennon behind the front two.  It worked for a while on Saturday but Chelsea (missing Terry) were not as solid.  Lennon just doesn't have the all round awareness and finishing pass to play that position.

I like Jol, but his decisions at times are a bit baffling. Taking Berbatov off in the last match was a poor decision.  When he went so did our ability to keep the ball in Chelsea's half of the field.

Apparently "he had a slight groin strain" yet played two days later. At the time I thought I'm sure I heard that it was tactical and they only said he was injured when Jol started getting criticised for it.

I don't think it was so bad that he couldn't have continued.  He was moving freely enough, and was going to be rested for the Watford match anyway.

I would have played Huddlestone too, at least he can pick out a pass unlike Jermaine (lucky to be playing in the premier league) Jenus.

Oh right, well in that case maybe it was a mistake on Jol's part.

Fair play tonight. Have to say, sometimes watching Dawson reminded me of John Terry. Good player for the future.

Huddlestone has a lot to learn (he's only 20) but has a bit of craft about him and looks comfortable on the ball.  Jenus is pretty rubbish, who has a bit of a headless chicken style to him.

Paul Robinson has been poor this season.  Beaten far too many times from range and his positioning has been poor.  Whether Sheva was crossing or shooting tonight, if Robinson had been somewhere near  the middle of his goal he could have dealt with both.

Plus he looks like he's been back on the pies again, which can only increase the effects of gravity.

Lennon was a bit off tonight as well. Would it have killed him to just cross the ball instead of taking on Diarra (and losing everytime)?

I think Mikel control alot of your play tonight, read things well, which may have been the cause of the not so great performances of Berbetov and Lennon.

Berbatov has been the one real high point of the season, that guy has a bit of class about him.  A few more goals in the league would have been welcome but as we were a bit shocking at the start of the season that's no surprise. Although of course he is one of these players that drops deep (I hate to use that term).  If he plays well for us next season then the better teams might start taking an interest (if they aren't already).

But pleased with his performances in his first season.

Mybe this should be in the Chelsea thread, but why did the (Spurs?)fan run on and throw a girly punch at Lampard? What was he suppsoed to have done? I was flicking between Spurs and Man U so may have missed an incident.
