Its hard to know what to say after that match. Certainly much better than the last away match at Bolton but still our worst start to the premiership ever. Second half in particular was good. Didn't let Man Utd create much and made a few chances of our own. Shame we couldnt take any of them. Jenas played well today. Ghaly was a surprise starter but he didn't do much. Also a rare sighting of Danny Murphy!

It's not been the best of starts, but the bonus has been that Arsenal are still below us.
Again, I refused to pay 8 to watch it, knowing full well we would lose.
Defoe and the new lightweight Mido missed good opportunities, which they can't afford to do against weaker sides.

Looks like Lennon could be out for a few weeks, if not longer, which means we now have 2 central midfielders playing in the wing positions - lack of cover still.

Thursday could be interesting.... and it's live on Channel 5....

I watched it for free-thankfully-via a nifty P2P download and I think Edgar davids was to blame for a second week for conceeding a move that led to a goal. He's like a big elephant, get rid of him!

A draw tonight I think.

Lennon shouldn't (and probably won't) be risked.  He has a minor cartiledge tear, but it could worsen if they rush him back.
No Ghaly or Murphy in the squad either.

Suspect Jenas will play on the right with Zokora & Mr Negative/Useless in the centre and Tainio on the left.
Berbatov could be back, but I think it will be Mido & Defoe up front.......

Hmmm. Just got sent this.

Tottenham are considering an audacious bid to buy the new Wembley Stadium and lease it back to the Football Association - if the impasse between developer Multiplex and the FA leaves the latter in financial difficulty. (The Guardian)

Not until 2012 though.... after the Olympics.
Can't go in any sooner as the IOC won't allow it.

The capacity would also be drastically reduced from 80,000 to 60,000 (guess it wouldn't look so empty that way).....

It would still be loaned to the FA for England games, plus Cup Finals and play-offs.

West Ham also want it though - though they're East London so that would be a drastic move for the club.

Excellent result last night, and the first half performance was also top-notch.

Good to see Jol finally drop Davids and bring in Huddlestone - who was not at all overawed on his full debut.
Last night was the first time I'd seen Zakora play and he was outstanding and looks like one of the bargains of the season.

Still lacking in natural width though, and it will be more noticeable now that Lennon's out for 6 weeks.

The home leg should be comfortable for us and thank God it's on ITV and not C5..... how annoying is John Barnes as a commentator!??!?

Fancy a comfy home win against Fulham on Sunday, but knowing Spurs we'll lose!

Horrible start to Spurs season, but good win last night for you lot. Am happy to see Huddlestone get a run, have heard so much about him at this stage, its good to see the hype a small bit justified, even it it was the Bog standard Trophy. Zokora is a fine player, all action and a great engine, probably will pick up more than his fair share of cards but nothing wrong with that at times.

Can't believe ye bought Mido though, jaysus.

So our season stumbles on with another frustrating afternoon. I thought we dominated the possession and had the better of the few chances but generally lacked creativity. With 4 central midfielders playing we lacked width most of the time and didn't have a lot of pace. Only good things were a clean sheet and Murphy did well I thought considering how little he's played. Great atmosphere though, well done to the Fulham fans who played there part.

Flew over White Hart Lane last night on my way back home from Germany & Holland.
Looks like they're re-turfing the pitch from 18 yards out, to the goal-line at the North Stand end.

We're not firing at all at the moment...... not hard to see why though when we're playing 4 central midfielders, 2 of which are having to play wide.
I'd be tempted to stick Lee Young-Pyo out on one wing....

Oh dear. Didn't see the game today cos I was at work, probably a good thing. I agree with Walkerboy, worth giving Lee a try on the wing so we have someone natural on the flank. Or Ziegler, he did well two seasons ago but now Jol doesn't seem to want to give him a chance.

We must get through to the UEFA Cup group stages on Thursday or our season will be in big trouble.

MK Dons away in the Carling Cup, I know its a few weeks away but given our current form it has upset written all over it.

I went out and taped the game and didn't miss much!
Can't believe that Jenas, having finished so well against Sheff Utd & Slavia, missed a gaping goal.  Gutted that within 40 seconds we were then 1-0 down... although I'd say Bellamy's miss was worse - he was just lucky that Gonazalez was there to finish it.
Poor defending for the second goal and I'm not sure what Dawson was thinking, backing off Riise.......

The fact stands that, following the irresponsible over-purchasing of central midfielders last season, we're left with no width or balance at the moment.
Jol looks a complete twat now for brining in a player who's injured for the first 10 weeks of his Spurs career, yet letting Routledge bugger off on loan again.  We're supposed to have 2 players for each position.  At the moment we have NO right midfielders and the 2 that can play on the left are being completely ignored.

Our forwards simply don't seem interested, Defoe evidently no longer wants to be at the club.

A handful of tricky games coming up now..... and being goal-shy it's not looking good.

First it's Slavia Prague on Thursday - and I can see us being knocked out with our luck at the moment!!

Then it's Portsmouth at home and I think we'll struggle to take a point.

Then its a trip to Villa, followed by West Ham at home.

Jol could be on his way by then and almost certainly will be if we also lose to MK Dons.  Gonna try and get a ticket for that, though I think the Dons will run a ticket policy whereby you have to go to a league game to get a ticket.

Frankly it's bollocks at the moment. Why the hell did we add no width to the squad when that is the thing that was needed. We're overloaded with central midfield players who all seem to be too similar.

I don't understand how Routledge has never been given a run in the side, then we let him go on loan again to secure the signing of a good but injured player. The UEFA cup is a bollocks competition so is there really a need to have four strikers? maybe for the Champions League but no this.

Robinson is worrying, he's still flapping at the ball and putting pressure on the defence and his long kicks upfield are taking out the midfield and giving the ball straight back to the other team, plus he looks a bit porky at the moment, the guy has never been slim but he looks like he needs to lose a bit of weight.

Some of the play hasn't been too bad in general but there is just not enough chances being made and no one is taking them when they come.

Ekotto had one bad game, against Liverpool and in fact it was 2 bad moments more than anything else.  Skinned by Gerrard and then played Kuyt onside for the second.

Team news is worrying for tonight.  Defoe, Berbatov & Davids out, King very doubtful.  Not so fussed about Davids being out, may mean Murphy gets another shot in the centre.
Keane & Mido up front was a great pairing last season, so there's hope they can do something tonight & Sunday.

I'm expecting a dull draw tonight, but am wary that we could even lose.

KEANO!

Through at least, much like recent performances really. Didn't really think Ziegler took advantage of his rare start but Murphy looking good I reckon.

Still goal and a cleansheet, very welcome this season.

Thought Chimbonda & Jenas worked particularly well together tonight. Keane was a bit disappointing though.

Chimbonda's going to work out as our bargain purchase of the summer.

Wasn't over-impressed by the performance, but it's job done.  Now just to hope we can score some goals in the Premiership.
Ghaly looked good when he came on and he added an extra bit of threat from wide.
Ziegler was his usual shite self..... and I though Murphy was pretty anonomous.

Zokora has fantastic drive and should be given more of an attacking role in the future, maybe with Huddlestone as the holder.

Still...... think we'll lose to Pompey at the weekend.

Oh and someone put David Pleat in a retirement home.  He couldn't say Chimbonda's name properly, then went on about King being fit for Monday night.... why?!?!  We play on Sunday afternoon!

That was an embarassing moment from Zokora yesterday.
There's no place for that in our game........

That said - another 3 points on the board!!!

Didn't actually see the game as we went to Harrods & Hamleys yesterday, but I recorded it and flicked through the goals.

Is Murphy FINALLY being given his chance?!??!

An away point!

Just listening to the updates on Five Live but it sounded like we played quite well. Shame to draw after leading but with 10 men not too bad, especially as Villa are unbeaten.

Picking up now it seems, just one defeat in 6 if you count the UEFA Cup matches.

Good news that Lennon returned today, wonder if Thursday will be to early for him to start.

Impressive tonight. Could easily have had more goals, Keane was a bit wasteful I thought and hasn't found the form of last season, time to give Defoe a run. There were other chances as well so I'm sure we're going to thump someone soon. Really good goal by Berbatov, especailly pleased as Five pundit Tim Sherwood said he didn't rate him. Then he goes and makes one and scores one!

Besiktas weren't as good as I was expecting but good news for us, great chance of going through now.

Tim Sherwood's a fucking cock. He probably hasn't even watched Berbatov before he joined Spurs. So many of these 'pundits' are the same. They can't see past their own arse, and are only really aware of what goes on at home.

That was a fucking cracker from Dimitar last night, brilliant stuff, if I was a Spurs fan I'd be quite happy seeing that and what he capable of.

I really enjoyed the match. Again we should have had five.

If that was supposed to be one of the hardest matches it looks good for the rest of the competition.

Looking even better now. Our most enjoyable match to watch this season. Berbatov was awesome, don't think Mido has much chance of playing all the time Berbatov is fit. Keane looked a better tonight as well. Took his goal really well.

Not sure about Lennon on the left though. Think they should have at least tryed swapping him and Ghaly over for a little while.

Still great result.

Just needed to start playing like this in the league. Starting on Sunday would be nice...

I've got a wee feeling for you guys on Sunday. Think it's worth a score, you'll get great odds seeing as you've not beaten them in the league since the pope was in short-trousers.

Jol'll probably drop Berbatov, anyway. Like I did from the old Fantasy Football for the weekend ten minutes before kick-off.
