So the Man U match. The first 60 minutes were quite good. Not too many final balls but we controlled play for a significant amount of time and weren't completely out-played by United.
Not sure what happened in the last 30 minutes. The scoreline was flattering but all three goals were very well taken. So I'm totally down on it. It is probably the hardest fixture in the season and we got it out of the way early.

I think ZonalMarking http://www.zonalmarking.net/2011/08/22/man-united-3-0-tottenham-tactics/#more-7031 did a pretty good report on the game. Huddlestone might have some very good aspects to his game, but he's not the most mobile of players and Utd certainly started to find a lot of room after the substitutions.

I'm trying not to have any kneejerk reactions. We have just played the two top teams in the country. Again I have no complaints about our defence, even though we shipped 8 goals in two games. They were all very well taken and Dzeko looked amazing.

What we need is to replace our entire front line in the next 3 days. I'm sure Crouch gave away more fouls than actually controlling the ball. Man City showed how to score goals. Our strikers look like they have forgotten.

Played 2, lost 2.. but remember these were against Utd and City.

I only watched the last half hour of the game. Spurs had a couple of nice moves, a lovely bit of skill from Bale and Defoe had a couple of heavy strikes. I assume that Adebayor isn't available to play against City as part of the loan agreement.

So I'd expect him to lead the line in the next game. Which will be no easy match as Wolves are no walkovers. And then I'd really worry about Liverpool. As I said, didn't see most of the game, but I think a bit more of a battling midfielder is needed. I'd be surprised if the transfer window closed and Spurs hadn't brought in Parker.

Yeah it's too early to write a team off after only two games but what would worry me if I were a Spurs fan was not that you were beaten but the manner in which you were beaten. You look a shadow of the team that finished 4th and then did so well in the Champions League.

The problem with the strikers is ongoing from last season, apparently the four frontmen only scored 18 goals between them. Adebeyor will be a good addition and will hopefully link up well with VDV.

I think the main problem Spurs have is all the rivals for the top have stepped up their game whilst we've not.

Still, after only 2 (very tough) games it's no time to panic. It could be worse, we could be Arsenal

Interesting that Redknapp is saying that Modric came to him a couple of hours before the game and asked not to play. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/aug/28/samir-nasri-luka-modric-football

If Chelsea have put a big money offer down, I think Spurs should take it and take it now while they can still get in a couple of players. Modric has slipped way down in what I think of him as a player. Sure, he might be offered a load more money to go to Chelsea, but did someone really have a gun to his head when he signed his last long term contract with Spurs? Be fun if Levy told Modric he wasn't getting paid this month, because Levy's head really isn't in the right place to be writing out wage cheques.

10 million for Peter Crouch?

If I were 'arry I'd personally drive him to Sunderland myself.

How do Spurs fans feel about the transfer window?

Should ye have taken 40M on Tuesday for Modric? Is Parker the midfield general that you need? Will not having Crouch available for Europe help your progress? Should ye of swapped Defore for Cahill? Will anyone miss Bentley, Hutton and anyone else who left?

I've said it before and I still believe that Spurs underachieved in the league last season. That was probably a fair price to pay for an exciting European adventure, but they really need to push back into that top 4 or players like Modric, Bale and van der Vaart will get itchy boots. I think Parker is a good buy, its an oldie, but its a true thing that Spurs can look a bit lightweight and I think he'll give them some extra steel.

If Adebayor hits the ground running (and no reason he shouldn't he can make and provide goals) then top 4 should be back in reach. If he doesn't then I'm afraid you might be looking forward to Harry getting the England job.

What's that I hear from all the way cross the pond?  The collective sound of 40,000 Spurs fans quaking in their boots?

There's still time to forefeit the match and spare yourselves the beating of a lifetime.

Can Spurs survive another 45 minutes??? If this was a boxing match the ref would have called it off ages ago.

Fair play to Rovers for giving Spurs a consolation goal to keep this game competitive.

Pfft.  This is all part of Rovers' plan.  They are master entertainers.  Prepare yourself.

Defoe not up for the fight.  Good move to sub him before he peed on the pitch.

I love how Spurs are completely flying under the radar. They've not lost since end of August. They made one of the best signings of the summer in Parker, they've many attacking options and a game in hand still.

Not too sure many would have had them to get back in the top 4, but they are ticking along quite nicely.

Wow! That has to be the worst disallowed goal I have ever seen. That is shocking. I would love to know what excuse they are going to make up to justify that one.

I would've quite happily taken 4th place before the season started, it just seems a shame after being 3rd for so long ( and quite a few points clear) we couldn't hang on.

C'mon Bayern. . We want champs league footie again.

Edit - A permanent deal for Adebeyor or a suitable replacement needs done too.

A suitable replacement I would have thought. Doubt Spurs will pay the amount of 's that Adebeyor requires, unless he takes a big cut. A couple of strikers maybe needed. And a good left back. And a centre back or two. Ledley is class but no longer has what it takes to be more than a squad play. As long as that centre back isn't someone of the quality/mould of Ryan Nelson, I know it was a loan for cover, but seriously, what was 'Arry thinking!
