In Crouch's defence I don't think he's ever done anything like that before so I'm not sure this behaviour is his "twat like tendancy" and he is often on the wrong end of ref's decisons...but it was two almost identical challenges and both of which he had no need to make.  I love the irony of Pepe applauding the sending off...anyone seen what Pepe is capapble of?

Sorry, but he single handedly ruined any chance Tottenham had of being competitive in this round of the Champions League, with two stupid challenges that weren't just unnecessary but ridiculously bad challenges even if placed in the scenario where they were necessary, and no it's not the first time his tackling and control of his legs has come into question, even if it's not that often.

However he constantly gets booked unnecessarily, mainly for swinging his arms and climbing to beat people to headers, a man 1 foot taller than everyone else doesn't need to climb, he should just keep his hands to himself and just jump.

Maybe twat is strong, but he definitely lacks any cognitive thought or common sense.

I don't disagree that he's cost them the game...I've never seen him make a tackle and he goes and does two in a few mins!  He does often get penalised in the CL or Internationals just because he's quite awkward and you're right henshould win more challneges than he does

Except until last night he hasn't been booked for 78 matches for Club or Country. (Olly Kay/The Times)

Fair enough, I guess his reputation has spoken louder than that recent record. A bit like Ronaldo and diving.

Is the camera angle always like this at White Hart Lane?  Can't say I've noticed it before but it's far too low

No, it's usually higher. Clearly White Hart Lane has been designed to never have decent camera positions.

Probably the only goalkeeper in the Premier League who wouldn't get into the Arsenal team.

Well, let's be honest, when you're down 4-0 on aggregate you need to go for it, and I for one support Redknapp's decision to select a player who sacrifices defensive capability for what he gives you in attack.

Ouch, it doesn't look any better, no matter what angle you see it from.

Something to do with advertisements apparently.

There has been quite a few snipers in the gantries tonight.

Really good game. Thought we would win before the game but am happy with a point after being 3-1 down and could of maybe nicked it with good chances for Modric and Sandro.

Like offside decisions, I'm happiest for the benefit of doubt to go with the attacking team. So I think Spurs should look long and hard at their keeper rather than the lino.

So 5th or 6th for Spurs this season. Do fans think that was enough? Given the way top 4 teams have played I think its been a bit of an underachievement. Getting a striker you can rely on is a must for the closed season.

Spurs don't deserve European football next season.

Any news on Gareth Bale yet? It's very rarely I have to turn away from the TV set and wince but I had no other option after Taylor-Fletcher snapped through his ankle, that was horrific, you could see how much pain the lad was in and I'm not bloody surprised!

I think the commentators said it wasn't broken

Although it was a bad injury he certainly likes to go down a lot and make a meal of a challenge usually.

It was Charlie Adam. And a bloody awful tackle. Ref didn't even give a free kick either. Pathetic.

So. A very quiet summer but least we haven't got rid of anyone decent... yet.

Drawn Hearts in the Europa qualifiers. Do people think we have a chance? Our pre season form hasn't improved much over the end of last season and I do think the squad does need strengthening. I can see Hearts going for it and causing a bit of an upset.

Er. Well that was easy. I was a little bit worried about that game.

What do you make of Modric's head not being in the right place?

Has he gone on strike? Has he put in a transfer request? Is Harry hoping if he doesn't play him, Chelsea will forget he exists?

Very disappointed. That's exactly what happened to Berbatov. I'm sure he'll stay this time though.

This is one of the reasons I think it is ridiculous starting the season before the transfer window closes. I would love Chelsea to be charged with unsettling the player but it would never happen.

Easy enough for Utd at the end of the day. Spurs have City next. Could be a tough start to the season for them.

There's no doubt that Spurs have more midfield coverage than attacking options. Personally I thought they should have traded Bale in, but they need to sort out the Modric situation now and get a striker in.

Just remember that contracts are there to protect the clubs too otherwise they'd never be any transfer fees and noone would make any money from players going from club to club

You played quite well tonight but Utd just stepped up in the second half...if Modric does leave then it looks as though Kranjcar is good enough to fill that role but you seriousl need a striker

Defoe's decision making is woeful

What do Spurs fans think about getting Adebayor? There seems to be a lot being made of him being a former Arsenal player, with Gallas playing for Spurs, I wonder if this is really a problem or is it more about the songs some Spurs fans sang when he was an Arsenal player.

Its clear that Spurs need a striker and I think if he comes in on a loan for a year, with City paying a good chunk of his wages it could be a good signing. But I'd never buy him because I think his ego is monstrous and he'd get bored after a couple of seasons.

They're really short up front (Defoe looked out of his depth against a very young and inexperienced United defence) so I should think they'd be happy to get someone of Adebuyour's quality for relatively little outlay.

Well that was more boring than a pre-season friendly.

So Adebayor has signed. He may be ex-scum but so was Gallas and he fit in well. I think it helps when he has had several clubs between them. We need a decent striker and he fits the bill, so I hope he plays well and score lots. Having said that I glad we didn't buy him as he is a pure mercenary.

So the Man U match. The first 60 minutes were quite good. Not too many final balls but we controlled play for a significant amount of time and weren't completely out-played by United.
Not sure what happened in the last 30 minutes. The scoreline was flattering but all three goals were very well taken. So I'm totally down on it. It is probably the hardest fixture in the season and we got it out of the way early.

We do need a good striker (hopefully sorted) and a new defender.

Bring on City!
