 Joe Jordan would paste Gattuso! He should have been sent off and so should Flamini. So much for refs being harsher in Europe. Would have been a cert red in the Prem.

 Congrats to Spurs. They did what they had to do and did it with aplomb, coming away with a 1-0 victory was a great result. They bossed the game for good periods. But I found it hard to believe how poor AC were in the first half. Standing off Spurs to give them all the time and room they wanted in possession.

Any update on Corluka? That was a shocking tackle and should have been a straight red.

Can't say I'll miss Gattuso in the 2nd leg, I think Joe Jordan should have just whalloped him.

 I have never seen such a one sided match being 3-0 nil down. They scored from a lazy penalty and a break away goal. Blackpool also managed to clear the ball of their line at least 5 times.

 Does this mean that technically Spurs lasted longer than Arsenal in the Champions League this season? We started earlier as well.

I am fully aware I have now jinxed us and we will now be thrashed by AC Milan

 I'm feeling strangely confident for Spurs tonight. Which is probably terrible news for Spurs fans.

All the talk is about Bale (and why not he's had a great Champions League campaign) but imo the bigger news is Van der Vaart being back. I just hope their miserable defensive record doesn't see them going out on away goals.

Well big test there for Spurs. They might not have come through it with aplomb, but they have come through it. AC will be kicking themselves. On the plus side for them it won't hurt as they'll probably miss.

 Well done Spurs. Backs to the wall and nervy at times, but a great defensive display is as worthwhile as a great offensive display, so a very deserved result. For all the attacking play that Milan had, they had very few clear-cut chances. I thought Dawson, Gallas and Sandro in particular were superb.

Of course, being Spurs no doubt you'll draw Shaktar or Schalke and crash out in the last eight.

Like we needed any further evidence supporting Crouch and his twat like tendencies.

I was genuinely and still am for that matter really getting behind Tottenham in this game. I despise Madrid with a passion and really want to see Tottenham do well anyway. However, I think getting knocked out now will only further the argument against Peter Crouch, so it's not all doom and gloom.

I really do dislike Crouch, nothing to do with his Liverpool connections, I just genuinely think he lacks common sense (him fouling unnecessarily is nothing new) and for everything he lacks in intelligence he doesnt make up for in ability. I'd say he makes up for it in verticality but he can't head for shit either.

Anyway I forget where I was going... Well done Crouch you've turned this entertaining prospect of a match into a one sided men against boys affair.

It's no secret the Italian teams aren't what they once were, but conceding 5 away goals, and to Schalke no less... Definitely takes some of the focus off this Tottenham result.

 In Crouch's defence I don't think he's ever done anything like that before so I'm not sure this behaviour is his "twat like tendancy" and he is often on the wrong end of ref's decisons...but it was two almost identical challenges and both of which he had no need to make.  I love the irony of Pepe applauding the sending off...anyone seen what Pepe is capapble of?

I'd agree with that - even with the loss of Lennon and Crouch, Harry's tactical limitations - the primary way to stifle Real is to deny space to the buzzing trio of di Maria, Ronaldo and Ozil - that never happened and there was an inevitability about the goals as the game went on.

I would suggest however, even if Madrid would have won, they probably wouldn't have had 36 shots if Crouch was there; having him there gives them an outlet, and with him van der Vaart would have been on the pitch a while longer as well. I would have said 2-0 with 11 men.

Sorry, but he single handedly ruined any chance Tottenham had of being competitive in this round of the Champions League, with two stupid challenges that weren't just unnecessary but ridiculously bad challenges even if placed in the scenario where they were necessary, and no it's not the first time his tackling and control of his legs has come into question, even if it's not that often.

However he constantly gets booked unnecessarily, mainly for swinging his arms and climbing to beat people to headers, a man 1 foot taller than everyone else doesn't need to climb, he should just keep his hands to himself and just jump.

Maybe twat is strong, but he definitely lacks any cognitive thought or common sense.
