Jonsons right, the Man United team is the weakest its been for quite a while. Fortunately for them everyone else are rebuilding at the same time.
Evans is gash, I'm still not buying Carrick as a world class operator, Cleverley looks like he needs another loan spell and you don't have any really top quality on the wings.
Good timing by Fergie possibly but I think you've been let off by City coming off the rails.
I fully expect Fergie to be spending another £60 Million plus in the summer to sort it out.

Sorry, I can't help laughing at some of the above comments........"got an eye on Saturday" and "concentrating on the league"
You're delusional!! They were beaten by a much better side, they were humiliated on Thursday night television.
Don't get me wrong, I wanted ManU to win, I'll support English teams in Europe, but there's no way in a million years they weren't trying, they just had an off-day against a team with far more desire, and a team, despite being 7th in Spain, that were better than them. Sorry, but it was plain to see.
The fans and players can shrug it off as meaningless as they want, like you did the FA Cup, but it's arrogance beyond belief.

Oh come on you know that as soon as United get knocked out of a cup they say it's rubbish and they didn't want to win it this year.

Maybe I'm in the minority if that is the case, but I want to see United win everything they're playing for, so I'm a bit pissed of this morning. In fact, considering United chances of silverware consisted of the league and the Europa, there's a good chance now they'll end up with nothing. Plus it'd have been great for Giggs to add that to his list of trophies.

As for one eye on the league, I agree with Jonson. Bilbao were just the better team over two legs. You simply can't dress it up any other way.

Well TLM I think you're from around the same age as me (ok i'm abit older ) when the League Cup and FA Cup really meant something. FA Cup final day was something to look forward to even if your team wasn't in the final. The big build up on tv started about 10 in the morning seeing the teams at the hotels and then travelling on the coach to the ground. Special guests on Grandstand and Itv programe (can't remember what that was called). It was a special day. Unfortunately now the FA Cup ain't the end of the season you now get league games played on the same day. The Final don't go to a Wednesday night replay. It seems Sky have changed the modern day fan attitude that only Champions League and Premiership title and top 4 place are the only two things worth having.
You only start the season with a chance of 3 cups (4 if in Europe) to win and if your club wins one you should be happy and also be disappoint if your knockout the cup.

I won't look back in 20 years time and think remember that season when we came 3rd and got into the Champions League, I'd look back and remember when trophys are won and how I felt during the game (normally crapping myself and being very stress ) but then the celebration if the team won the cup.

I think he meant that you know. One of the most underrated players in the PL.

And that's a cracker. Feel a bit sorry for Blackburn they've played with shape and effort and will be dropping into the bottom 3.

I was really expecting a draw after 75 mins. Blackburn were defending like champs for most of the second half and I thought Utd would never get the breakthrough . Thank god for Valencia. He was a very good player when he came to us but he has improved a lot in the last few years. Amazing goal too.

So who was holding there breath at 80 mins? Someone needs to have a word with Fergie and the squad that we dont need so many cliffhangers. De Gaea is fantastic at times.

I have said for months now that DeGea has the potential to be the best keeper in the world in two years. Two really good saves again last night. I was watching the game and actually remarked aftyer 35 mins that we were going to get mugged 1-0. It just had that feel about it. You could see Fergies reaction with a few mins to go when he was berating Danny and also pumping his fists at the fans. Big, big result.

Into injury time at the end of the game, Foster came up for a set piece (which I always love). The ball ended up with de Gea with Foster still well up the field. I was dying for de Gea to have a punt up the field. Maybe the goal was being covered by a WBA defender (I couldn't see) and definitely keeping possession and running down the clock was a smart way to go at 2-1 up. But I was dying for de Gea to have a go and see if he could cancel out his error by having a massive kick up the field at what (in my head) was an open goal.

This ^^

But having seen him hold his composure and not go for it, I get a feeling this kids gonna be alright.

And that was back in August last year!

I think those of us who actually have watched De Gea over the last two or three seasons knew he's utter quality, its just the people who don't have a clue that said he was useless.

I've never understood how people can judge young players like that either - if you can actually see into the future then fine, either you have no fucking clue either way!!!

I hadn't seen enough of De Gea to have an opinion one way or the other before he joined Utd.

For some reason there are people who want players to fail, based on the fact that they were expensive. I don't really get that, as its not my money so why should it really matter to me if a player cost 18K or 18M. And where's the fun in players failing, surely we want to see everyone play at the same level as Messi.

I personally think De Gea has been lucky (but you often need luck in this game). Didn't he make a mistake or two in a game just before Lindegaard got injured? I think if Lindegaard had been fit, he'd have played the majority of the games. As it is, its given De Gea a chance to establish himself. And fair dues to the lad, he's taken that. I still think he's 10 times the shot stopper than he is a keeper who can handle crosses and control his area.

Thats not necessarily a bad thing to be, especially once Vidic is back Man U's defense will be a lot stronger once more so De Gea doesn't have to be a Schmeichal-type character berating his defense every five minutes on a sniff of a chance for the opposition. Casillas has tried in vain for years to command his back four though more often than not they do what they want (admittedly defensively Real have looked a lot stronger this year due to Ramos being exceptional at CB) and he has been in the top three keepers in the world for a dozen years. De Gea will get better and better, he has bags of potential and is beginning to show that in the PL undoubtedly.

Yup, not good from Young. Like many, many other players out there trying to convince officials they've done nothing wrong.

Linesmen should have spotted the offside too. Bloody officials making mistakes! Never happens outside OT does it?

I have a policy of never believing cash + players transfer stories. I wasn't that impressed by Gaitan in the games I saw him play against Chelsea for all the money that is talked about him.

Cant judge a player on a couple of games.

Though I agree on the player swap buisness. Those deal are a rariety and when they do happen they tend to be done in other leagues, notably Serie A.
