Hello Everyone,

Could someone please help me with this movie? My girlfriend asked me to look up this movie for her that she saw as a child. She does not remember what it was about she just remembers that there was a scene where a man had his arm chopped off by a samurai sword. This is either a 1970's or 1980's movie. We do not know any of the actors names, all I have to go by is this one scene. I am guessing that this is a japanese movie and she thinks the man that had his arm chopped off was white. Any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

P.S. I checked the new one armed swordsman and this is not the one. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Hola chicos and chiquitas,

My friend has been going on for more than a month now about this film he saw 4 years ago on TV. I'm trying to help him find it but all attempts failed so far. He has promised whoever guesses the name with a BluRay DVD of their choice.
I will make sure that if any of you find it, I'll ship the reward DVD of your choice myself. I think it's only fair.

So here is what he remembers, copy pasted:

'So there's this guy (white American who plays music) who falls in love with a virtual soulmate whom he can imagine through the music (i think this begins after the funeral in a church of someone close to him). So this virtual girl dances i assume (white soft clothes). He becomes detached from the real world, has some fights with his (real) girl friend and dives into the virtual love. His friend tries restlessly to understand him and guide him back to the reality norms..In one of the scenes he takes him to the lake and discusses with him what he's going through.. Then this guy (protagonist) brings in to his apartment a poor mad pianist who plays the piano and gets drunk all the time. He always has a beer bottle in his jacket. He 's black and he has a beard (seems in his 60s). In one of the scenes he is found sleeping on the floor of the bathroom and then licks what is left of the whiskey from the floor..
That's what i remember and the music is beautiful.. I do play some notes :P (i can send it to you if you can remember it from the theme music).'

Kindly let me know so I can end this time consuming futile endeavor and get some sleep.

Best,

Fa'ez

Lost film: UK crime drama / bank robbery. Some time in the 70s I think. Robber is sentenced to jail, after the trial pops to the loo while the police guard waits outside. He sees the barristers wigs and cloaks on hooks. He quickly puts them on to walk past the PC guarding the door, and into the street.

Classic 70s cheeky-rogues thriller in the vein of The Italian Job, but seen a a child so possibly actually a hard boiled drama!

I've seen this just recently, it's 'A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square'.

I watched a LOT of old westerns on TV as a kid. Some of them I remembered the names of, and I bought them years later and fell in love with them all over again (Yellow Sky instantly springs to mind). However, there were a couple that really gripped me and stood out in my memory that I can't remember the names of.

There's one that begins and bookends with an old man about to leave his home with his wife but discovers a fairly lengthy letter and begins reading it, then naturally the contents of the letter are the main story of the film - told in flashback (I'm pretty sure in black and white) - but I'm afraid I can't remember much about the story except that there's a romance involved. Anyway, by the ending when he's finished reading it, the wife walks in and asks what's been taking him so long etc. Then I think they leave and that's it.

You may be thinking "...well, that doesn't sound very much like a western." but I'm pretty sure it was. Anyway onto the next one...

Definitely a western, this one. And in black and white. Now, I only caught the end of this movie at my babysitter's house but it really got me on the edge of my seat. Anyway, by this point in the film the whole of this small town had rounded on our hero and were pretty much chasing him, led by the clear main villain. This bad guy has managed to chase the good guy up to the top of this bell tower, and they're both standing at opposite ends of the huge bell. Then our goodie grabs the big bastard of a bell and swings it toward the baddie's side and it hits him hard under the chin. Right on impact, his face freezes, eyes wide, before he tumbles down the hole and falls to his death. The hero goes back down to the bottom of the tower and stands before the townspeople, delivering a big speech (the only line of which I can remember is something like "I'm just a piece of paper!"). Surprise surprise, it has a happy ending and I think there's a woman involved. I remember this fondly because my babysitter could see how gripped I was and when it ended I turned to her and she just said "Well, there you go."

Those are the main ones that have been bugging me for years, but if I think of any more I will let you know (can't get Hannibal Lecter's voice out of my head whenever I type that).

Hellllppp... been hunting for the last 6 hours (OCD huh).

Basically, name the film where there's a chase scene on one of these... http://bit.ly/YxNWsB

A guy runs from one to another car and the cars are moving up and down in an inner city parking lot...

I'm sure it's an 80s or 70s film and no it's not Mission Impossible 4... I think one of the guys gets killed at the end somehow...

It's a bit like a scaled down version of the chase scene on the car ferris wheel on 'Atlantic City' (1980).

I have a vague feeling it's a thriller, a bit like Witness, so slightly obscure but not too obscure...

What was the name of this movie, featuring an evil genie? The evil genie was in something glass (not a lamp), had brown skin, wore a turban and had a beard. It was inanimate at first, but comes to life, in an evil way, where it makes scary noises, scaring all the people who see it. The movie was definitely live action, and it was a feature movie. I don't know what actors and actresses were in it, who the producers of the movie were, what genre it was or even any quotes from it. It definitely wasn't 'Aladdin', as the movie wasn't set in Arabia.

I first saw it (most likely on ITV) late one Sunday night, in 1993 (rhyme unintended) [though I don't know if that's the year the movie debuted in, or if it was made before that].

Please help identify a comedy:

I remember watching a live-action comedy movie in either late 90s or early 00's, and it had a scene where the character was talking to one or two other people, and he was getting his adjectives and verbs mixed up with more amusing alternatives. For instance, instead of saying "you're just exacerbating the problem" he might say "you're just masturbating the problem". I'm pretty sure he played the lines straight, and wasn't conscious that he was using the wrong words. I seem to remember a lot of long words used incorrectly.

I think the conversation took place in a jail cell or a small room. It reminded me of a Leslie Nielsen type of movie though I'm pretty sure it was not Nielsen himself. I don't remember the rest of the movie being all that funny, this was the only scene I can remember.

thank you

I have a couple more. There's a horror movie or show I saw as a kid:

Back in the late 80s or early 90s, I saw this movie or perhaps TV show on cable. Someone sits down on a couch, and these hands come out of the crack in the couch and start pulling the person into the couch itself. The person is screaming and ends up being completely bent forward so that their head is right between their own feet, and they are pulled into the couch. As a kid I could never figure out, a) how someone got into a couch to begin with, b) how on earth there was room enough for TWO people?? and c) how on earth that person got bent over so far :)
The whole thing is something you might see in a Freddy Krueger movie, although it's none of those films. For some reason I tend to associate it with the War of the Worlds TV series, so it might have been one of those episodes and the person in the couch was an alien?

--

A somewhat erotic movie I saw on TV as a kid:
We were flicking through regular TV channels in the late 80s/early 90s and came across a rather steamy movie. There was a woman lying down on some sort of table or maybe massage bed. The background is very dark and I think there's saxophone-type music in the background. There's a guy standing over the woman and he's got an ice cube. It's all rather dark, so it's hard to make him out. Most of the light is focused on the woman's abdomen as she's lying down. He slowly slides the ice cube down the woman's stomach. You see all these close ups of the woman's stomach and belly button as water from the melting ice cube trickles down her skin. He may have also run the ice cube along her arms and neck as well. As I say, it was on regular TV so it wasn't some porn channel :)

First one I recognise the scene and have seen the film and would have sworn it was one of the Nightmare on Elm st films myself but then thinking about it, I think there might be a scene like that in one of the Amityville Horror films.

Second one sounds like the fridge scene in 9 and 1/2 weeks

Nice one, yes the erotic movie is 9 1/2 Weeks, thanks for that!

Haven't identified the horror movie yet, I'm still seeing if there's an Amityville connection.

Hoping someone can help with this as it has been bugging me and a friend for quite some time now.

I saw some of this film years ago but don't seem to have enough info for any online film finders. Two posh, blonde public school boys enjoy playing mind games with each other for kicks, until one of them winds up dead, all murdered like. Some hard arse female detective is put on the case, the boy left is the main suspect and he's a head fuck that may or may not be gay for his dead mate, but she starts to think he's innocent. All British and dramatic with lovely green back drops. What am I on about?

Hi,

Does anyone know the name of this film: I remember a scene at the end where the woman goes to a bar and tries to seduce a guy to come back to the room with her, they have s*x in the back of the bar but the guy says he has to go to work and the woman gets all p*ssed off and starts hitting him and the guy throws her off and says something like "there are planty of guys here who would love to do you all night", so she walks back to the room alone. Her accomplice (male) is at the room and I think they may be arguing over money or worrying that someone is going to kill them. I can't remember why she was trying to bring the guy back to the room. I'm sure it's a crime/thriller type of film with a feme fatale and set in a small town. It may be a road movie as well.

Cheers.

I meant to add I think the film was between 1989 and 1996. It was one of those films on Channel 4 or 5.
