Was just wondering if there was any love for this out there on the Empire forums.
Since it's on Channel 5 at 8.20 on a Saturday night, it's almost certainly sinking without trace (and I'm sure people'll think it's just a cheap CSI rip-off - it isn't, by the way).
Shame, cos I think it's pretty good.  The cases are interesting and there's good banter between the cast - well worth a look I reckon.

Wow.  Only just spotted this a few pages down.... seems I'm not the only big fan of this show.

Certainly seems as though it'll slip by in the UK without much following, which is a shame as it's very good television.  Have been lucky enough to have been following it on FX since the first episode.  Makes a refreshing light-hearted change to the often very straight-laced cop shows around right now.  Has all the trademark Bellisario touches too.

Great Season 3 finale i thought.... Who else will slap Tony's head now?

Myself and the other half are currently enjoying this on FX.  Mark Harmon rocks.  I didn't even know it was showing on five - once again the terrestrial controllers get it HORRIBLY wrong.

Why put good shows like this on in a decent time slot when they can squeeze in another mind-numbing dose of reality TV eh?  They should move it to Tuesady's at 10 now to follow new CSI: Miami at 9, might hook in a lot more viewers on the back of it.

Atually, it's doing ok for 5 - certainly getting the ratings they'd expect for it in the slot it has. They're bombing straight into season 2 soon as well.

Of course, seasons 1 - 3 are being stripped on FX, weeknights at 8pm.

Bloody hell - I'd forgotten I'd started this thread.
Looking forward to series 2 starting.  It's been, oooh, all of 5 days since the last series finished.

Nice to know I'm not the only one watching it,

Add me to the (very short) roll call of fans of NCIS.

This show was brought to my attention, many moons ago, by the man they call 'Helo' repeating Tony's CSI gag and Kate's near to the knuckle comment about altering pee samples from the first series (it's the episode with the deckhands hyped on more than just caffine?).  Didn't know where or how to find it...  but knew that many of my American friends spoke well of this show....  especially about the interaction between Gibbs and DiNozzo

So when it came to DVD a few weeks ago - I asked Screenselect to send it to me and...  I am hooked!
And so is the rest of the family too!

The characters are well drawn and acted (Okay - I confess...  *slight* crush on DiNozzo and Gibbs... whaaa?) but suffice to say that they all rock mightily and I am looking forward to watching S2 on 5 or on FX if I can jump on as S2 starts.
And yes. I know what happens at the end of S2 - I don't like it at all but...  other than that - spoilers to yourselves guys...

So...  favourite characters?
I'll answer first, but I know that a certain Forensic Specialist of the Goth persuasion is going to come up in conversation at some point.

My choice would be...  Gibbs.  Mark Harmon has that happy knack of combining gravitas with sexiness...  or perhaps I'm just biased.  He's tough but fair, even when he's cuffing Tony around the head.  He's certainly the sort of guy you need on your six and certainly not someone to be messed with.  Unless you're female with red hair!
Definitely the glue that keeps them together.

Ahhh, Miss Sciuto

Have to say that McGee rapidly becomes a scene stealer as seasons 2 and 3 progress, preoperly developing his own cult status.   The mystery of his RPG playing female friend has us NCIS-fanboys going ga-ga for a while.  The way she just slinks in from his bedroom after Tony and Kate leave with McGee and picks up his Ghost Recon-style game without breaking stride is priceless.  Those that haven't seen that Ep yet will know what I mean soon....

US Speed NCIS has a halloween theme episode next week, we've been told to expect muchos wacky costumage...  Abby will be in hogs heaven.

Spoiler-text on!  Season 4 info.
BTW, anyone else think that Tony and the Director had a thing whilst Gibbs was AWOL?

Giving this thread a bump!

I'm a huge NCIS fan, it's a very enjoyable show, interesting cases, great banter, superb characters.

With season 3 now finished, any idea if C5 will be showing season 4 anytime soon? They are currently repeating season 2 (about 4 episodes left I think) and they started showing 1 again earlier this evening.

Interestingly Five have taken down their page for NCIS. It's still on their listings for repeats on Saturday nights but is no longer listed as a show on their channel. I just wonder if they've decided not to take up the rights to season four. If so that'll mean FX is once again the only channel in the UK showing it.

A big pity cos Season 4, 'the season of secrets' has been excellent.

C5 won't have season 4 until about next January - FX have a holdback period between their run and 5's run of at least 6 months.

yeah, i must admit i don't feel as much love as some have expressed but it's a decent, watchable show.

We'll always watch it when we are in and it's on, but as said, a better timeslot than fri or sat nights would probably hook us into it a lot more.

I like NCIS, but I've lost track of it a bit as different channels show different series so I always ended up seeing ones that had been on loads of times before already.

A shame the actress playing Kate could not cope with the shooting schedule as she was, in my opinion, signifcantly better than her replacement.

Is that why she left? I never knew that. She was a better character than Ziva, particularly when it comes to the rivalry with DiNozzo.

There were 14 hour days in some cases and also a lot of physical work which apparently she could not cope with and so she left.  She had not realised the long days etc would be part of the role. It is a great shame as she had better chemistry and a more interesting character than the replacement.

The producers did seem a bit unsure of how to pitch Ziva's character in Season 3. Some episodes she seemed to be there simply to provide comedy (I still hate this stupid getting sayings wrong thing), where others it seems she is directed to simply by stubborn and OfficialHardAssIsraeliTM woman.

Thankfully, in Season 4 just shown in the US and now on FX her character is given some far better storylines and really begins to create a space of her own. Not really a replacement for Kate anymore, I'm starting to warm to her now. That's not something I thought I'd be doing as I was a massive fan of Sacha Alexander.

Still, neither of them are anywhere near as glorious as the wonderful Miss Abby Sciuto

I'm also a big NCIS fan, love the AV Helo. Abbey is a very cool character instead of having a cliche geek as the tech. The relationships between the characters are better written than the CSI franchises, they seem to have more personality in NCIS. Not knocking CSI tho, it's very good at what it does.

It was funny for a time, but it became old very quickly, and yet all of the other familiarities - Ducky's rambling anecdotes, DiNozzo bossing McGee, Gibbs and his head slapping etc - always seem to stay fresh.

The more I hear about season 4 the better it sounds, so I can't wait until it is shown.

CSI is very good, but I'm currently much prefering NCIS, It's a just a more light-hearted affair, more so than other procedural shows I also enjoy like Without A Trace and Law & Order.

I agree with you both,. Abby is a great character. I think her relationship with Gibbs, so different fom Gibbs and the others, is fantastic.

My wife is a huge Gibbs-Abby shipper.  I can see what she means.  They just have that brilliant chemistry between them but I can't quite bring myself to want this going any further... more fun watching the half-platonic flirting.

Still can't quite work out whether Madame Director is working well as part of the show or not.  There are times she just seems too wooden, shoe-horned in as a PC female boss.  But just occasionally she'll get a doozie of a role in an episode.  Season 4 sees her get some great screen time with Tony and their secret project

I think the most interetsing aspect of Shepard is her past with Gibbs. As a member of the team she really wasn't given a huge deal to do in season 3. I'm certainly interested in this secret project

I watched the pilot episode again last week and it's good to see how similar the characters are now to their first appearence, and how the relationships, though they may have evolved, the basis was their right from the start. I've also started to watch CSI again from the beginning, and some of the characters are almost different people in later years.

There's plenty of innuendo and subtle, knowing looks from Tony and Madam Director.  Was their project more than just professional?

Slightly OT... how cool is the farting Hippo? I have to find one of them on interweb somewhere.

I must admit I was surprised to see that the Director was played by Lauren Holly who was almost unrecognisable in comparison to Picket Fences and Dumb and Dumber.

I prefer it to CSI mostly because of its humour and more interesting characters.
