Anyone still watching this? They are only a few eps away from the end now, the last two episodes were brilliant. I thought the show had gone a little stale in season 6, but 7 has been great. The big cameo in the last two episodes and his rapport with Carrell has been brilliant. As much as I think the show should end, to go out on a high, man I am going to miss it.

You know it's not ending right?

Ah, I did not. Hmm not sure what to make of that one. I hope they don't drag it out, and Michael is pretty key to everything going on. Is it just going to be the same format, but without Michael or are they going a different route?

Same style. The season finale will apparently be new candidates for Michaels job ... some pretty famous ones

Gabe was given Strangler prominence this week, and the additional sub-plot of Phyllis Erin family?
What a lovely ending though, I was welling up, which I never expected, well done, despite Ferrell being annoying and poorly written, 3 characters over 3 episodes.

I agree with all that! It was very moving throughout, particularly at the end. I don't understand Ferrell's role in the end of this season at all. Is his character deliberately not funny in order not to upstage Carrell's exit? In which case why bother with Ferrell?

A really touching exit for Michael who has been one of the funniest television characters I've ever watched. I knew he'd get one last 'That's what she said' in as well.

What an amazing character he has been and so many hilarious moments he's provided us with.

Thanks for the memories Michael Scott.

So does this mean they are going on without him as I thought they said they were stopping at the end of this season. If they do go on I think it might prove a big mistake, seven seasons is a good run, and it has been one of the great modern shows, I hope they don't blow that by out staying their welcome.

Just watched it. Gutted.

I shed a slight tear when Pam had her final interview with the camera - and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I loved it. I was sooooo sad that see Michael go. Love him. Will miss him. Aren't they all going to be invited to Michael's wedding?

Oh and Gabe is freaking me out.

They never said they were going to stop at the end of this season.

Well I didn't say that they had said it just that there had been reports in the press that this was the final season, and that the question had been posed how can you go on without Scott. Personally I think they should end it now, seven seasons is a good run, and for the most part the quailty has been high, I think they are in danger of spoiling their legancy if they go on.

Even the cast have spoken out about their doubts of the credibility of the show when Carrell leaves. And rightly so - even Kelly is leaving at the end of the season.

They should end it now. I don't want it turning into another Scrubs.

I must admit, I was worried that the show would/will struggle without the driving force of Michael Scott productions but the finale was really well done, the last few episodes I haven't laughed so much for a good few seasons. Anyone else feel the same? I wont discuss anything in case people are still waiting to watch, but I think the show still has a lot of laughs with the remaining cast. Lets be honest, they are brilliant characters.

Just seen the last episode with Steve Carell. Almost in tears for the goodbye scenes with Pam and Jim, and the letter to Dwight. Funniest bit was the brilliantly self-aware gift he gave to Oscar, watching Scott crack up was hilarious.

Just end it on a high note before as is inevitable with Carrell's departure it goes due to low ratings other Greats knew when to quit Seinfield, Cheers 7 seasons is a good run be proud of what you've done & let it go out on top.

Actually the last two seasons of Seinfeld was a bit poor overall, but I take your point.

So anyone been watching the Carell-less season 8? I'm quite enjoying it. Episode 2 and Andy's incentive has been the best so far. Definitely feels strange without Michael Scott but fears of another Scrubs s9 can be laid o rest I'd say. There's still enough brilliant characters to sustain it for a while yet.

I'm still enjoying it without Carell, although it's clearly not as good. However if I was to do a top 10 of my favourite Office moments Michael Scott wouldn't feature that prominently (Stanley, Creed and Kevin would take the honours). Robert California is a great addition to the group dynamic and am enjoying Andy as manager (although they seem to be struggling what to do with Jim and Dwight). I just wish they'd take BJ Novak off the title credits: 8 seasons and his only big moments were 4 years ago.

On a slightly different note, what's everyone's favourite cold opening? For me a very close call between the chaos of the fire drill of Stress Relief ("the fire is shooting at us!" and Angela unscuccessfully saving her cat) and the masterful lip dub of Nepotism (all of it but Michael's dodgy sync and magic tricks are a particular joy).

I had my doubts about Gabe, he was probably my least favourite character going into this series but actually he has been excellent this series. The party at Schrute farms episode was stellar and last night's episode he easily had the funniest moments.

Good episode last night, James Spader is a fantastic addition to the cast though Im still having trouble buying Andy as boss.

The office US is great, I really miss Micheal Scott and I think his presence is sorely absent from this new season. I havent caught a new episode in a while but on the whole it hasnt been anything special.

It's just as good as the last two seasons with Carrell. Not as brilliant as some of the middle seasons but still very entertaining and funny all the same.

Not a fan of Andy as boss though. They appear to be sticking with it, though Robert California is fantastic

So one final year then.

To be fair I'm not surprised. Season 8 for me was a huge drop in quality but the way the season ended gave me hope for the show as it moves on. Still, with the original creator back behind the wheel for the last year it has the potential to go out on a high. And there's always the Dwight spin off too (which I don't have high hopes for to be honest)

Cheers for 9 mostly great years Dunder Mifflin!
