Well something's up at Barnes & Noble. They sent me an email to say that Brazil had been delayed (ordered during the sale) but that Following and Heaven's Gate had been sent. However, the order online says Brazil and Following have been sent but Heaven's Gate not... d'oh!

They've still not shipped Heaven's Gate. I suspect it is because I ordered it at half the price it currently is and they are hoping I will cancel the order.

BUT I WON'T. MUWAHAHAHAHA

Watched Lindsay Anderson's If... tonight - what a cracking film, can't believe I haven't seen this before. Amazing music, too. Recommended!

I'm super excited for Life of Oharu.
Been hoping Criterion or MoC announce it and it's finally happened, and it's out afew days before my birthday too.

Not a great month for covers. Yikes at the Ice Storm cover.

I'll add Oharu to my want list.

I watchted the Criterion blu-ray release of Band of Outsiders today:

Bande à Part (Band of Outsiders)
Godard at his most accessible is a film like the ones he loved so much him self, a true gangster flick.
It`s light but still it has the obvious signature of the Master. In the way it is shot, in the dialogues and in the voice-over.
Criterion`s blu-ray release of the 2010 Gaumont restauration is excellent, really an improvement over their dvd release.
This will never be my favorite Godard film but if you want an entry into his body of work, I`d start with Bande à Part and A Bout de Souffle.

8,0/10

I saw they released Mr. Arkadin.
One version I was able to see from Hulu, which is a forgotten masterpiece by the continuing genius of Orson Welles. When I saw the criterion release my mouth watered.
The blocking and movement in that film are flawless. And Welles is cinematic as ever in the scene of the rocking boat with alcohol, sporting a beard spooking a women.
They went all out in the packaging for sure.

You should really be getting that release, one of the best and most complete they`ve released IMHO

Yeah hopefully.

Also if you can watch the B&N website during the switch over of sales(midnight US time). the Buy2get1free offer may overlap with the 50% sale.
The 40% sale overlapped with the Buy2Get1Free offer and i managed to knock 6 titles of my wish list for £70.

Mmm. So many seem to be upgrades or well enough done elsewhere. Last realise that really excited me was the Kobayashi set.

Saw the La Cage aux Folles musical in theaters a few years ago, wich was excellent. Therefor curious about the film.
Will be getting the Rossellini set, will be a great release. Might get Autumn Sonata op some point. I have the dvd release of Slacker, wich is excellent so I`ll skip that. Curious to see if they`ll keep the digipack design for that though.
