 I figured this could go along side my Buffy thread, so my fav season would definitly be 3, I love it when Darla kills herself to save the baby,
season 2 is also fantastic, when Gunn joins the team properly, and Fred is brought in at the end of the season, season 5 is a little shakey, but is made great by "Smile Time" and "not fade away", Weaslys death is very moving, thoughts on Angel?

Better then Buffy in almost every way, it's darker and alot cooler. Reminds me of like Blade or something, while Buffy is like more of a cartoon. But then Angel never takes itself too seriously either.

Angel should of carried on.
It seemed to end too soon.
The whole spike and angel story should of had more exposure.

I do think in the end it beat buffy.

 Fantastic compared to the tripe of Buffy's latter series. Plus the final episode is the finest hour ever commited to celluloid.

What? Season 4 was the weakest. Season 5 is fantastically dark demonstrating a nihilist realism over Buffy's sugar-coated hopefilled nuggets.

Having watched the final episode the other night and initially feeling disappointed it ended the way it did I've changed my mind and decided they were right to finish it there.

I don't see how they could have carried on anyway, with another of the main characters having died.

 Season 6 was dire as was Season 7. After all that build up, what happened? I hated five but it's growing on me.

I prefer S4 to S5, I really like the conner ark, allthough bringing in Spike to S5 of Angel was a really good move, I also think it was brave of them to kill of Fred, and eventualy Wes, Angel really ended on a downer (a good downer), you get this felling that there all gonna die, which is really sad

 Love Angel, although its not as good as Buffy (but what spin-offs are as good as the original). Seasons 3 and 5 are my favourite and season 4 is good for the most part but it let down by the shoddy Jasmine storyline.

 Which is its strength. It does hold back any of its bleaknesses. Here it is. 'We are fucked.' How brilliant an ending is that in a time filled with happy endings and short cancellations?

I thought the standalone episodes of Angel were always better than the 'monster of the week' type thing they'd do with Buffy every now and again. Angel always felt like it was more of an ensemble show and they had some really cool concepts for single episodes.

 I dont understand the non loving on season 5. It was my favourite season of all of them (both shows).

Spike was a welcome addition, Wolfram and Hart opened up a whole new dynamic and the Fred/Illyria storyline was perhaps the most moving and intruiging storyline I have come across.

I've read that Wesley wouldn't have died if Angel hadn't been cancelled. Season 6 was going to be post apocalyptic!

I like Angel more than Buffy as well. I've been to a few conventions and have been lucky enough to meet a lot of the cast they are so great! My favourites are season 4 and 5. I loved it when Spike joined the cast and season 5 has such great episodes like Destiny, Life Of The Party, You're Welcome, A Hole in the World, Shells, Orgin and Not Fade Away. I love the early episodes with Doyle as well he was so cool!

in reply to buffy, I don't think season 6 would have been post-apocalyptic as I don't think they would have the budget to make that look good. Also I think Joss said that he had to cram 2 or 3 seasons worth of storylines into the last half of season 5 after hearing about its cancellation.

season 1 (5/5) - Sanctuary
season 2 (5/5) - theres no place like plrtz glrb
season 3 (5/5) - birthday
season 4 (5/5) - apocalypse nowish
season 5 (4/5) - smile time
thats not the order I see them in, s3 is my fav season overall

 season 1 5/5* to shanshu in L.A(although i love nearly every episode)
season 2 3/5 the shroud of rahmon
season 3 5/5 tomorrow(probably the best end to a series ever!)
season 4 4/5 apocalypse nowish(but an honorable mention to when faith breaks out!soo good!)
season 5 n/a(only seen like 4 episodes,was meant to buy to finish the collection just never got to it eeeek!)

That's right because of the budget I think it was still gonna be set in the Wolfram and Hart building. The reason most of season 5 was set there is because the budget for the show was cut. I definately think Angel should've had at least one more season it would've been great!

Season 5 - Orgin (it's so hard to choose so hounarable mention to A Hole in the World/Shells, You're Welcome and Not Fade Away)
Season 4 - Souless
Season 3 - Couplet
Season 2 - Disharmony
Season 1 - Blind Date

 Eeep picking favourites is hard. I've only seen series 1 and 2 recently because I'm collecting them on DVD at the moment. One of my favourites from season 1 though was "Hero", sooooo saaaaad

Easy! I think season 5 is the worst because....

1) They went to work for W&H. It totally killed it for me. Part of the greatness of Angel was the gang doing what they had to do without all the resources in the world. They weren't up only against the bad guy but the really bad guy in W&H. Maybe my total dislike of Lilah sways my disliking of them hooking up with the firm...

2) Killing Cordy. Please. They got rid of Cordelia to give us Eve??!?!?!?!?!?!? People bleat on about Cordy's story being finished... well not really IMO. There's no reason she couldn't still get visions. There was the whole sleeping with Angel's son (even though it wasn't really her... but you know what I mean) set of issues that they could have explored. Shit, she was funny! I missed her greatly. I can even accept the Connor "killing" because of the way they made it more shit for Angel to get angsty about (and because they brought Conner back into the fold. Kind of).
