Anyone else a fan of Popular, the first series by Ryan Murphy of Nip/Tuck fame? Set in and around Kennedy High School, it's a comic take on the trials and tribulations of high school.  It only lasted 2 seasons, but it's still one of my favourites.

Yeah, I wish Channel 5 would repeat the whole series, especially season 2 as I don't have that on DVD yet.

I was sure there were more than 2 seasons, but apparently not.

At the start it really was a 90210 clone, a cliched beyond belief. But about halfway through that season they obviously decided to take a different tack with some incredibly surreal and very funny moments. Mary Cherry's moma taking class is on I will long remember. And Wentworth Miller's guest turn was superb.

Great little show.Loved the first season finale premise: 1 person will die, who will it be, it was like a game show . it was hillarious. Have they brought season 1 out on Region 2 yet or am i still wishing?

I think that Leslie Bibb (the blonde girl) looks freakishly like Maggie Grace (Shannon) from Lost - Anyone else think so?

I occasionally would catch a few episodes of this show. I thought that it had charm, but I wasn't interested in it enough to watch every week. It was quirky, and had one of the best looking female casts that I have ever seen.

I would place it well above teen shows like The OC or Beverly Hills 90210, but it still can't compare to shows like Freaks and Geeks and the surreal Parker Lewis Can't Lose.

The Wire is surely the best TV show ever broadcast in America. This claim isn't based on my having seen all the possible rivals for the title, but on the premise that no other program has ever done anything remotely like what this one does, namely to portray the social, political, and economic life of an American city with the scope, observational precision, and moral vision of great literature.

The Wire has never won an emmy? [It] deserves the Nobel Prize for Literature!

Doubt it will ever come out on Region 2, but both series are available on region 1.

Didn't it end on a cliffhanger that was never resolved?

Yup, Ryan Murphy had planned to do season 3 but the network pulled the plug. Idiots.

I remember watching it when I was younger, seem to be a bit smarter and cooler than the later One Tree Hill etc... I remember it being very funny.

If you liked this, did you ever catch the short lived (but equally brilliant) Life As We Know It, which starred a rather good Kelly Osbourne and aired on LivingTV a couple of years ago. Sadly it's got a shocking pan and scan treatement on R1 DVD so I have avoided it, but it's one of those shows that was cut short way too early and I'd love to own if it wasn't for the shitty DVD (Dawson's Creek R2 being another shining example of poor treatment - pan/scan and different theme tune!!! )
