I loved this at the time, but on reflection,it is by far the weakest of the trilogy. Why?I can only surmise that Jackson,My compatriot and our countries most visionary director, simply buckled under stress!.He is an avid collector of World War One memorabillia,so you might think he would have some respect for an actual human being that lived and fought though those times and gave us an eduring myhology to boot!.Sadly this was not so. He completely disregarded the talent of a vet who fought in that war, by claiming to have "Improved" on his writing. That to me is the stark raving of an utter mad man, especially when you realise that his improvements consist of fart jokes, and an imaginarary horse kissing a "much improved" air to the kingdom of men.weird bear/hyenas instead of the real world wolves, incerted for the sake of a minor and short liuved god of Toy-dom, and omiting many, many better scences for the sake of lame comedy and a bit of CGI.
