Sam Neill and Eric Stoltz star in this epic sci-fi mini-series that follows a group of professionals investigating the dangerous truths behind one of the greatest legends of our time: the Bermuda Triangle.

It isn't bad - complete B fodder but it doesn't take itself quite as seriously as most of this stuff. But the SF channel doesn't really seem to have worked out how to succeed with good own-made stuff yet.

The side story with Lou DIamond Phillips is probably the worst bit - and the ending is duff. But perfectly enjoyably average apart from that.

Seems a bit odd that they are showing it 3 nights in a row though.

You could rent the DVD. R1 has been out for a while, but I am sure I saw the R2 on the release schedule.

Downloaded it when it was shown in the States.

Really not that good. Was very let down by it considering the talent involved.

So if you're straight and female it is pointless?

Apart from the fact there isn't any cheesecake in it, I was surprised to see so much press focussing on her until I realised she was in that JAG thing. I don't watch it so had no idea who she was.

The first episode plays well and does draw you in.  It's all downhill from there ending in a truly derivative and cliched ending and leaves you with the wish you could have those hours back.  I would have expected more from Rockne S O'Bannon.

And with regards to Cathrine Bell, sadly that is not a screen shot from the show so don't get too excited.  And for the ladiees there is some Australian bloke with a six pack if that's the type of thing you're looking for....

Unfortunately, like you, I went in expecting more from O'Bannon.

So I shouldn't watch it? I have the whole Season of disk from when it aired in America, but should I waste the hours away? The advert made it seem like my thing, but now I'm not too sure...

I'd say watch the first one then make up how you would like it to continue, it's probably a better story and less disappointing.

I'm glad I read this thread cos it sounds rubbish.

Actually, as I was typing this I realised I couldn't watch it anyway as I am out tonight at a gig so that's that one out the window anyway! I would have watched it otherwise just to see how it pans out. (Emphasis on 'pan' there by the sounds of things.)

I'd be interested to see how people feel at the end. For me, the big failure was resting the entire thing on a couple of absurd coincidences - one of the worst cases of deus ex machina I've seen of late.

Glossy fun though the rest of it was

Quite enjoyable so far. It's a pity that the Barry Manilow song is not in it though.

We decide to get away
And have some fun
Book a room and catch a flight
For two weeks in the sun
She says, "Hawaii's too expensive."
I say, "Barbados isn't bad."
She says, "I'd love to see Bermuda"
And I say, "Woman, are you mad!"

Bermuda Triangle
It makes people disappear
Bermuda Triangle
Don't go too near
But she
Doesn't see my angle
And she thinks I'm being dumb
So Bermuda Triangle
Here we come!
Lying with my woman on
The island sand
I look up and see her with
A stranger, hand in hand
I see her sitting on his blanket
I see them going for a swim
And when I run to find my woman
I find her running after him!

Bermuda Triangle
Makes my woman disappear
Bermuda Triangle
Dont' go too near
Looking
At it from my angle
Do you see why I'm so sad
Oh Bermuda Triangle
Very bad!
Lying lost and lonely on
The island sand,
When a lovely stranger says
Hello and takes my hand
And soon she's sitting on my blanket
And then we're going for a swim
When I say, "What about your boyfriend?"
She turns and waves goodbye to him!

Bermuda Triangle
It makes people disappear
Bermuda Triangle
Don't go too near
But look
At it from my angle
And you'll see why I'm so glad
Now Bermuda Triangle
Not so bad!
Everybody
Bermuda Triangle
It makes people disappear
Bermuda Triangle
Don't go too near
But look
At it from my angle
And you'll see why I'm so glad
Now Bermuda Triangle
Not so bad!

And I'd like to give him a round of applause for winning a particularly difficult round of the "making an effort in finding the existing thread rather than making a new one" game, something that so, so many seem to fail at every single day. Oh, and it's indexed now.
