Okay, lets just establish the most important difference between the Bourne Identity and the sequel. Gone is Doug Liman from the director's seat, to be replaced by Paul Greengrass. But, if anything, this has proved to be an improvement. Unlike Identity, Supremacy goes with the thriller cliché of ridiculously shaky cinematography, and to be honest, it couldn't have been put to better use, jacking up the tension and making the action scenes look even more awesome. And, believe me, they don't get much more awesome than this. Supremacy keeps with the Identity tradition of a breathtaking Bourne-vs-assassin fight about halfway through, and the car chase through the tunnel at the end is one for the pages of stuntbook history. The characters aren't all that bad either. Matt Damon's Jason Bourne shines once again, continuing his quest to discover who he truly is, while kicking the crap out of a bunch of people in the process. Returning villain Brian Cox and newbie Joan Allen are delightful as they argue over how to take care of Bourne, with the latter trying to bring him in alive and the former wanting him dead as soon as possible. JuliaStiles is also back, but not long enough to make a lasting impression. Filling in pretty much the same role as Clive Owen in the first one, Karl Urban also puts in a strong performance. Arguably better than the original, Supremacy once again shows us that the Bourne series is smarter, cooler, and better than James Bond could ever hope to be, while showing that sequels don't necessarily have to be bad. And that, in my opinion, definitely deserves our respect.
