I hated the first film but Greengrass really got hold of the tension in this one.

I like them both, I own both of them. To begin with I like the idea behind the film and secondly I love that they go to different locations, especially some we haven't seen at all or not for a long time. The movies are great show and although I am a huge fan of the Bond series, I have to agree they were rather lame these days.
Great entertainment.

I liked the way the films showed that he was not invulnerable.  He was tough but there was a sense of danger to the Bourne character in that he did take a beating.

I don't quite know why but when The Bourne Identity came about I was never too bothered about it. Then I saw both 'Identity' and 'Supremacy' on sale in a local vid shop and took the plunge and bought them, and now I frickin adore them. Clever, exciting, beautifully shot and composed. Matt Damon is also in his mode, especially in Supremacy.

I really liked both movies. I usually don't like Matt Damon very much (and couldn't picture him in this type of role) but I thought he was great. They did a good job of translating the books to the screen.

Certainly not as good as the original but a strong sequel (despite the occasional moment of annoying camera work)!

How refreshing it is to watch a sequel to a great film turn out to be just as good if not better than the first. A fantastic spy film continuing on from where the first left off with Bourne chilling with his love-interest (Potente). After this first shock the viewer can assume that almost anything can happen in the next couple of hours. Intelligent, thrilling and charming, you'd want to hold Robert Ludlum at gun-point just so more of this franchise can be made. The sight of Bourne useing a toaster to blow up a house will rank high in my all-time action sequences, and a strong cast with no prima-donnas to highjack the film make this a modern action classic.

A mate o mine saw it b4 me and said it wasn't as good as Bourne Identity so I thought 'why bother then'. Eventually watched it during a dull evening shift and I was mesmerised. Just pure braw by the way. Wanted to give it 5 stars, but just lacked a fifth dimension - still one of the best franchises out there.

The first one was okay but the second one was just pure rubbish and had nothing to do with the books because they screwed that up at the end of the first one with the killing of chris cooper's character.

these films I do not compare with the book versions.  mainly because my dad talked about the Bourne Identity as his favourite book when i was ten (20 years ago!) and so I appreciate them for what they are now - the modern, cutting edge Bond.  Appreciate your loyalty to Ludlum's books, but me, I'm a Damon fan Bourne and Bread.  Sorry.

Good film but the shakey cam shots ruined the action sequences and ruined the tension.

Matt Damon kicks ass in these films. I was a huge fan of the 1st installment and couldnt wait for this one( and the forthcoming 3rd). I liked this so much so that I even went out and bought all the Jason Bourne books to read too(I havent managed it yet). A very clever and excellent film which can get you on the edge of your seat. I didnt think anything special of Matt Damon before but do now for sure.(I cant however think of Matt Damon without saying his name like its said in Team America!)

The Bourne Identity and Supremacy are both superb. They both shit all over Bonds recent 'efforts'. No fucking invisible car's or totally unconvincing CG men surfing here.
This is about Supremacy though so here's my thoughts:
It is truly captivating and i found myself getting so wrapped up in the story. It's very tense and it has an amazing car chase (as did the first film). Matt Damon totally owns the Jason Bourne role. He IS Jason Bourne.
If the next film lives up to the standard set by the first two, then it will become a truly great trilogy. Here's hoping!

Thoroughly enjoyable movie, and a nice change from Bond movies - seeing someone improvising, using everyday objects etc. Some terrific set-pieces, and a particularly spectacular car chase through Moscow. The one thing that irked me was the way some of the action was presented. They were obviously going for the documentary-style handheld camera, slightly improvised kind of feel, aided by the editing. The problem being that sometimes a combination of the way it was shot, lit, and edited made it bloody difficult to determine clearly what was going on. In particular during the hand-to-hand fight with the other agent. There were plenty of occasions where I wasn't sure who was who and what they were doing.

Great story, solid performances, jaw-dropping stunts...and crap camerawork. Can we all chip in and buy Mr.Greengrass a nice Manfrotto fluid-head tripod? He cheated himself (and the audience!) out of some really good action scenes by utilising the confusing, nausea-inducing hand-held shots. Anybody got any Dramamine?

Good movie, but i think it could have been a great one if they had based their script on the actual book rather than make up their own and add a few key points here and there, ie being in moscow rather than hong kong.

This is something I wrote at the time that I thought I might as well re-post.

To call The Bourne Supremacy a "summer flick" does it a
great disservice. The plot is complex, probably to the
point most will struggle to follow (myself included, at least till I
get to see it again which I'm certainly going to be doing), but it
doesn't really matter, because Bourne is a strong enough character to drive the movie forward. This is Bourne's story, his personal tragedy is presented to us in all its gritty glory. The plot is just a device to allow for his character arc, and as such it does a good job, throwing him into all manner of chaos with one hair raising situation survived after another.

Amidst it all Damon is coolness personified, as he emerges from bouts of fisticuffs, falls from bridges and car chases, bruised and limping, but intact and with a sense of calm.My favourite bits are where he has to resort to his wits and resourcefulness to escape the multitude of pursuers thrown his way. Anything from a magazine to a mouthful of vodka comes in hand, before the punches come flying.
The the confusion that he provides to his pursuers during the chase from the hotel to the bridge and across the railway tracks is very well portrayed, with the cinematography perfectly capturing his movements, as he double backs on his tracks. One almost feels out there in the thick of the action, panting for breath.

In fact the cinematography and direction is class throughout. It captures each movement, each chase in such a way as to plant oneself right into the fray. I could feel the blows in the fight between Bourne and his remaining fellow assassin, every bone crunching one. And it perfectly helps to illustrate Bourne's tactics, the way he
tracks down Pam Landy, and uses all manner of devices to follow her from her hotel room to the operations centre. It sucks you into
Bourne's world, making the scene to come all the sweeter with him on  the phone to Landy. I couldn't help but smile, and give a knowing chuckle as Bourne the proceeds to outwit her, before delivering the coolest of kiss offs.

Ok most of the rest of the cast are merely functional, but they do what they have to to progress the story and the action when it comes delivers on every level. As said by others the car chase is one of the best ever to be put on celluloid and it follows smoothly from a chase on foot. Each tyre screeching turn and metal crunching crash rams home the realism of the situation, yet it still retains and adrenaline pumping cinematic feel.

The emotional final scenes make for some strong cinema, as Bourne confronts demons from his past, that his amnesia has protected him
from. I was genuinely close to tears as he explains to the Neski
girl that he had in fact killed her parents. This is a broken man,
but a man with principles, who knows he has to do this. It also
shows how his relationship with Marie has shaped him, and how he has dealt with his loss. Damon conveys this with dignity, using subltle gestures to depict his solemnity. All the while you can sense the pain within.

I actually think this has been a very good summer of movies, but
this is the best film I've seen this year period. Nine out of Ten.
Danke Jason .
