 I got one of THESE for use with the compact camera, quite handy when travelling as i've normally got a bottle of water, good for self portraits or pics of me and the bird.

I wouldn't try it with the dlsr obviously!

I got a non-gorillapod for my dslr, but it's not very strong and falls forwards if i've got a big lens on! I may invest in a proper one as they seem much more stable!

The only problem is the retract breaks if you look at it but still works ok if you just wrap it around the body of the device.

7dayshop is where I have whiled away many a gadget laden hour.

Took this on the golf course on Sunday morning with my Iphone.
I just liked it, and it was nice to photo the mushroom before I put my 5 iron through it.

 A trip to the zoo today. Sadly I had not realised I had my camera on the incorrect setting for most of the way around so they are a bit out of focus which was not visible in the viewfinder.

I took this tonight, i know there is snow on the lense but I actually love it as it adds another dimension.

 Those Northern Lights are spectacular.



Snow and Spring.


I took this one using an extension tube but the depth of field on it only seems a few millimetres either way so I think I still need to work out how to use it properly.

Cheers Sanchia, the lights were amazing. I recommend anyone to go hunt them as the movement was one of the most specatular things I've seen.

Your photo reminds me  of this photo I took trekking in the Andes in Equador a few years back:

I would dearly love to go and see the Northern Lights, whereabouts in Norway did you go Mucky? Adore the pic of the dogs

Hoping to sort out a trip to Oban and surroundings in the summer so should get some great scenics pics there.

We went to Tromso near the artic circle for 5 nights. Booked onto two trips to hunt for the lights and hit the jackpot on my birthday with the photos above. We stayed overnight (Lyngsfjord Adventure) in a cabin for one night out in the wilderness and did the dog sledding on the morning of my birthday then went back to Tromso and did the Northern Lights Minibus in the evening.

Believe it or not its one of the mildest places on Earth. Yes its cold but its also dry. While we get wet winters, In Tromso its a dry cold. Quite hard to explain but the cold was actually more bearable than in the UK. Just need to dress up warm.

 I'm trying to get a handle on the extension tubes for my camera. They are not easy to use as there is a very small depth of field and if I move the came about a millimetre back or forward the focus goes (see the bumblebee below where the body is in focus but the leg is just outside the depth of field). I think I really should try to tripod it rather than manually take the pictures.
