Wow! Great shot Sanch. I love infra-red photos, a very ghost like quality to them.

Thanks.

I have to admit I spent about ten minutes trying to get rid of some dust specks from the image. I now realise my computer monitor really needs a clean.

I do the lazy option, zoom to 25% (so the image is larger than the screen) - if the spot moves as you scroll, use spot healing, if not let it live on to fight another day

If only I had pictures of all those snowdrifts I used to walk through to get to school. No one believes me when I tell them about them.

With my big tripod it worked better. the sun was a bit lower this evening than when I took the first picture but it worked well.

It just goes to show that just because the bubble is in the middle of the spirit level it does not stop the picture being a bit off.

The moving plants are a shame but it's still a great shot and I hope you take another crack at it with your other tripod because it would be worth the effort I think. Really good shot though.

I actually really like the moving plants, it gives the impression that the trees are about to take off
But they are really wonderful shots there sanchia, and very spooky

I am quite pleased with the results considering it was just a cheap filter purchased from Ebay.

Fantastic shot sanchia, really well done. The angle and perspective really bring the trees to life. They look enormous.
I'd frame that and stick it on the wall.
The infra red, is that an inbuilt function or a photoshop thingy ?

There are filters to do it properly - Cokin make some, but there is a photoshop thingy to mimic it.

Also thought I'd share the first of my images to get >1000 views on Flickr

As Mr Wiggum stated it is a filter. I purchased a cheap one from Ebay rather than spending 80 on a named brand and it seems to work quite well.

You frame the picture then lock the lens and slip the filter on and take a 10 second or so exposure (the filter is pretty opaque) which results in a picture like:

You then drop the saturation and alter the levels and there you have it.

I am still experimenting at the moment

Amazing work. Some bits you want to watch for longer though, like those clouds.

I have a very shitty, standard camera but recently I took a couple of photos I liked. My mum got a new cat so I took photos of her, this is my favourite-

Last Saturday morning, at 5am, I was awake and bored, so I took photos. This is one I took from my back door-

Not beautiful, sure, but I like them

^ they're great. having a wang of a camera would be nice ( would kill for one sometimes) , but as long as a shot has attitude, interesting or balanced compistion, and it looks good then whoop whoop. Just keep snapping

I tend to think it is about the enjoyment of taking a picture as much as anything else. I really like the cat one.

Wow! It's stuff like the astronomy movement that really brings home that we are on a moving ball

Love the cat one Shifty, my brother has a similar one with his cat poking through bannisters as well

Finally managed to get out of the house.

It would have been a lot better from the other side but has become rather overgrown from that direction.

Thanks guys, appreciate it

The cat one looks better on Photobucket when it is smaller for some reason. The full size one, the cat's face is a bit blurred. It looks better shrunk.

Photozoom is quite a good program and does allow for a far superior crop.

Can I get opinions. If you had to choose one of these which would you choose?

Definitely the top one Sanchia.

There's just that bit too much distraction in the background on the second one. Great photos though!

Yep, me too, the top one. More definition in the subject flower and shows up the droplets a little clearer.

Definitely the top one. There's less saturation in the bottom one which makes the flower seem like it's wilting a bit.

Thanks for the opinions. I was just wondering if my setting were a bit over saturated as I personally like a nice saturation to a picture but someone mentioned that it seemed a bit oversaturated, it is nice to see others agree with me.

I think in a picture of summery flowers with raindrops on them a bit of over saturation is fine.

Totally agree. There was something about the top picture that was doing my head in though, that the main flower reminded me of something or someone. Well .....

I was just using my point and click camera so it is not as versatile.

This is more for the sky than the rather boring oilseed field (I wish I had some landscape with a bit more personality nearby).
