If i'm going to upload pictures at higher quality (or larger filesizes) for folk to download, i use picasa. I haven't used it in a while but my albums are HERE

I tried enhancing it, it feels like the river bank is a bit pale, but it's made the trees at the top go yellow!

I think there was quite a lot of sunlight coming in the top left.

I'm still getting to grips with my camera, but I quite like this shot. Photobucket seems to have reduced the quality of the colour somewhat, which is a shame as I'd enhanced the saturation. The photo on my computer looks a lot better anyway.

Better?

As mentioned before, it's the compression that photobucket uses that loses some of the colour quality.

Playing with the macro lens adapter in the sunshine:

Another walk some more photos.

And my first attempt at a long exposure. It didn't really work as I thing I need to get a variable Neutral Density filter rather than the one I have which is an ND8 and a little bit too dark. It also didn't help that I forgot my tripod so had to use a handy bench to rest my camera on when releasing the shutter. for a 1.5 second exposure. It could also do with a crop where the edge of a filter sneaked in and the belly of someone standing to the right.

in comparison to without the filter,

I wonder what a long exposure on fire would be like?

May I ask a quick question Swords? Did you take that first photo on the Isle Of Man?

Both were, actually. Have you spent a holiday in Groudle Glen or something?

I had a holiday on the Isle of Man last July.  Loved it.  It is a beautiful place to visit.  Here are a couple of my shots:

Nice pictures, it is a gorgeous place, isn't it? It's home for me when I'm not at uni, so I always try and go walking when I'm back.

Trying out a new compact camera today. Quite happy with the panorama mode.

I've only got a couple of shots on my laptop and i can't be arsed to go and get the external drive, but here's some from when i did the south downs way last year. I've got heaps from many camps i've been on over the years, but they start to look the same after a while!

And here's the above with the flash! As you can see, we were drying our clothes out from a rainy bike ride.

A friend bought it and then managed to get his old compact working which he preferred to use. So he's selling it to me for a tenner.

Sony A450, just with the kit 18-55 lens, had it about a week and I'm thinking of upgrading the lens already. at full zoom its fastest setting is F5.6 (which even speaking as somebody who has only just upgraded from compact, is not quite fast enough for my liking)

however I think I'll snap away for a while until I can afford a better one, and wait for my american aunt to send me a copy of photoshop

Edit: Playing with shutter speeds and water...

Long time, no post.
I was always an infrequent poster on the forum but this was probably my "most lurked" thread, I posted a few photos myself but always marvelled at many of the photos I saw.
Then life got in the way, I stopped posting. I got "properly" into photography last year. I use a Canon SX30is and a Canon S90. My plans for a DSLR are about a year away. Been forcing myseklf to use manual settings to get more proficient. A weekend photography course in Manchester also helped a  lot!
I've been taking photos almost daily - thanks to http://www.blipfoto.com - and thought I would have a look back at one of the first places I really enjoyed looking at other people's photos. Thought I would also share a few of my own.

AMC Cinema, Manchester, using Canon S90, no processing.

Arch at Castlefield Basin, Manchester. Canon S90, no processing.

Chadderton Hall Park, Oldham. Canon SX30is, no processing.

Spiral, Arndale car park, Manchester city centre. Colours tweaked using Picasa.
