The Wire is surely the best TV show ever broadcast in America. This claim isn't based on my having seen all the possible rivals for the title, but on the premise that no other program has ever done anything remotely like what this one does, namely to portray the social, political, and economic life of an American city with the scope, observational precision, and moral vision of great literature.

The Wire has never won an emmy? [It] deserves the Nobel Prize for Literature!

I received Broken Flowers and Extras today. I tried to copy them, but it won't let me .

I haven't rented anything for ages but have rented two this week.
Narnia and Chicken Little - I can't even use the excuse that I've got kids. I just really wanted to see Narnia and the Chicken Little trailer at the beginning of Narnia DVD made me chuckle so I decided to treat my inner child

I thought this was an interesting failure. Kate Winslet was fantastic and amazingly hot, which is always a bonus.

I had that recently too, I liked it a lot. It doesn't quite work as a whole but there's gems scattered all the way through it.

I gave it 6/10. The film really loses it when it abandons the songs and goes for full-on drama.

Having seen it, I completely agree with that assessment - there are some great scenes but they don't hang together all that well.  You could tell that Turturro picked the songs first.  Kate Winslet's performance is very ballsy.
