Well, I don't need to rent online, as I work for Blockbusters and get 10 free rentals per week.

But I finally rented this yesterday:

It's one of those well-known films that I've never seen. Also, I'm going through a Kevin Spacey thing at the moment.

Screenselect have sent me this week:

I've just got the notification for this.

Kurosawa's 'High and Low' - 9/10

King of the Ants - from a previous discussion on here and I got it really quickly. Some interesting bits but often dodgy acting and the script a bit of a mess. 5/10

Dunera Boys - kind of boring until it gets to Australia. Then rather brilliant!

Sophie Scholl - not watched yet.

Renting for me, doesn't make sense. I never really have the time when i rent osmething, i much prefer owning the DVD and deciding when to watch it than renting it. I also think rentals are way overpriced, for the same amount of money I could get the same DVD for maybe 1 or 2 pounds more on ebay or the amazon marketplace or an ex rental.

£14-£15 a month for 12-24 rentals, depending on how quickly you watch but remembering you can keep them as long as you want,  is actually pretty good economic sense, particularly if you haven't seen the film. Maybe you are just thinking about offline rentals which, I agree, are too high a price.

I'm the opposite.  If I know I'll like it I'll buy it, but I want to watch so many movies that rental is the only way to go to see everything I want.  If I rent and like then I'll buy it later.  And with online subscriptions you end up paying maybe 50p per rental, if that.

Yeah I was thinking about non-online rentals. I have never tried online renting, always been skeptical but with all this praise, I might try it once I have finished my exams.

Wouldn't it just make more sense to have a 'What DVDs Have You Acquired This Week' thread, instead of two different threads about what is basically the exact same thing?

Hi Zeppelin

a) good luck with your exams! (Hope they get marked )

and I hope the online rental site thread proves useful to you. It can be difficult to avoid ScreenSelect in its various guises though

This week I've rented The Legend Of Zorro, Shopgirl, Shadowlands, Roger & Me and the original We're No Angels.

Zorro was highly entertaining, and I'm halfway through Shopgirl. Very good so far. Hoping to get at least another one watched tonight.
