 I don't know why this got slammed so much i thought it was a brilliant idea and has a great sense of atmosphere in the film. Had more than i expected from it, great film.

 Totally agree. This film was fantastic fun. The story was class, and it had the coolest werewolf transformations that I have veer had the pleasure of seeing. Yay for Underworld!

Kate Beckinsale was excellent casting for this movie and I don't think it slammed as much as Evolution has at all. The story wasn't particularly original, yet the werewolf transition, just as Gothy pointed out, was pretty incredible to watch. Of course, it isn't a patch on The American Werewolf in London, but it looks just as excruciating. Michael Sheen was entrancing as Lucian - the leader of the lycans/werewolves and Bill Nighy was just blew me away as the elder Vincent. Ruthless, hard and determined in his quest to keep the line of vampire and lycan seperate and uncontaminated.  

The ending kept Underworld open to a sequel as we all knew and it's unfortunate Evolution's storyline was rather lacklustre in comparison and it tarnishes the original for me now. I'd still give it 3.5/5 though.

 I thought Underworld was terrible, I didn't want to watch any more after an hour because the script and the characters were so bad that I really didn't care what happened!

 i like vampire films so of course im gonna like it. werewolves, vampires they all go at night and have a little scrap... oh and kate beckinsale turns up and loves this man who gets bitten... oh and bill Nighy as boss vamp...nice coat mate!

Everyone who picks it to pieces, just remember you ARE watching a movie about vampires and werewolves. Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy were great

The movie started of well, but after while it just gets boring, and near the end I found the set-peices a little vomit enducing, but the movie does have its ups namely the costumes, but still thats not enough to convince me to buy it on DVD.

 Ugh, I was telling my mum about what was going on and my mouth went dead dry because of the confussing plot and stupid actions in this odd vampire-werewolf action. Sure, Scott Speedman was good-looking but he wasn't drop-dead hot as the future were-wolf and Kate Beckinsale was very annoying but her outfits were kind of cool. Bill Nighty scares me more than Michael Sheen and he has butt rough! In all, a okay movie with bloody action that a bit strong for a 15.
