Ok, so having seen the trailer, here's what I think. Cumberbatch is NOT Khan. I know he talks about vengeance, but I think unleashing hell against Earth because he was expelled 300 years ago will be a bit 'megalomanic' for the sequel. Plus they'll have to establish who he is, why he's now in the 24th century etc etc. I think he's an original villain, someone along the lines of Gary Mitchell, but not. Also, in keeping with trying to make Trek relevant to present day events, I reckon we might be seeing a Middle East Crisis parallel, kind of like the Maquis episodes of DS9/TNG. Cumberbatch is a Starfleet officer who used to live in a system that was given to the Klingons in a peace treaty. His world was promptly ravaged and he wants vengeance against both Earth and the Klingons (hence the war zone the Enterprise has to track him to later). Of course, this is just me guessing. And Alice Eve is Carol Marcus... who is doing something.
