I honestly couldn't be more conflicted. I was under the impression that 'rebooting' the timeline was a way for the writers and crew to come up with new exciting adventures for Kirk and co. I had hoped that all the speculation about Khan was tabloid fodder as it was generally the only 'well known villain'. Personally, while Khan is a great character, I've never felt he was 'The Joker of Star Trek'. The only reason his appearance had any relevance was because Spock died at the end and that was only because they were both fighting in a nebula with no shields. Khan was easily outwitted as he had no experience in three dimensional space combat. Anyway, by introducing him I can't see the motivation, the angle or the point except to attract the masses, which I thought would have been easy enough to do anyway considering the popularity of the last film. However saying that, Cumberbatch is a great actor and although he doesn't look like a 'Singh', I'm curious about what he'll do in the role and how it'll tie into the Klingons. I'm sure the story will be fascinating, I just wish they hadn't gone down this route.
