I'm English. Don't shoot me all at once tho, because I've married Welsh, and fathered two half-Welsh children (the two are connected don't-you-know).

Oh, actually, my (recently deceased) grandma was born and lived for the first six years of her life in Tredegar. She loved it there, and so we sang Guide Me Oh Thou Great Redeemer at her funeral.

Currently residing in the builder's yard that is Newport, for my sins. I was fortunate enough to travel to West Wales, and visited Laugharne, which is beautiful.

When I was a boy, living in that other hilly sheep-infested place (Cumbria), my parents often took us all fell-walking. Does anyone know any gentle starter fells (or whatever you call 'em here) that can be navigated by an out of shape dad and his 4 year old explorer?!

Best thing about Wales - yummy welsh cakes!!!!  OOh and there's a lush welsh fudge shop by Tintern Abbey (i think that's in Wales?) that I went to on Sunday that does chocolate and rocky road flavour fudge.  It's all about the food

I have got so many non Welsh people completely addicted to Welsh cakes, it's so funny! Just sent some to a friend in California and if I don't make Cuch some soon I think he's going to camp outside my house.

So what do you do with these then? Do you cut them in half and put butter or jam on them as they look abit like Hot cross buns

They're much flatter and cakier than hot cross buns and are best eaten on their own.  You're missing out if you haven't tried them

Also not seen it mentioned here but we have the best anthem in the world. Just look at the pride of  the people when they sing it. Be it at rugby matches, football matches or anywhere else.

Despite being English, and (I'll get hit for this) despite Wales officially being a Principality, rather than a country (I don't agree, so don't hit me - hear me out!) I always felt that since we are always described as 'England, Scotland, and Wales', that Wales should really get a look in on the Union Flag. (It's only the Union Jack at sea, or something...) So here's a mock up I've done which gives Wales a look in, and also makes the flag look a bit more interesting...

Ummmm, which is worse:  Barry or Newport?

Or alternatively, was anyone get caught up in the crash on the M4 which killed 5 people? It took me two hours to get to work!

At least Barry has a funfair.  Ok so it's pretty crap and hardly ever open.  Newport sucks though.  Cardiff rocks.  I love it here!

Newport has that red thingy that I call the Stargate. That might not be a recommendation tho.

We do have some lovely ancient roadworks. They've been here for bloody centuries. Feels like it anyway.

I walked my daughter to our nursery that day. It's maybe a 5 minute walk. I crossed the one road, and a car let us out. As I crossed back over (path on one side only) by the nursery, the same car let us out! That's how slow it was moving. And that wasn't even a main road.

I was driving through Newport with my boss showing her a shortcut to asda from Sainsburys and the road I normally use was completely closed off with cones so I had to turn around and get back on the motorway to go up one junction   Bloody road works

In other news:
Weather presenter Sian Lloyd has won the coveted title of Rear of the Year!  Something for Wales to be proud of?

I'm trying to think of a shortcut from Asda to Sainsburys...... One's by Jct 28, the other's by Jct 26... Where's the shortcut?

More importantly, why would you want a shortcut from one supermarket to another?!

It was easier to get out of East Berlin than Newport these days; bloody road/building works every where!

I believe we have a winner!  Can't really see them changing the National Anthem to Land of our fathers somehow though.

By the way, I'm also technically English.
