Excellent Ti. Of all the money swilling aournd in Hollywood and all the amount being chucked at complete crap (just see nearly every blockbuster of the past 5 years) they need to finance this now. It's a surefire winner!

Don't like the fact the studio wanted the 'helicoptor attack' scene cut. And the surfer attack. Kill-joys.

I'm already think would could star as me in Meg 4. I'm thinking Naveen Andrews............

I was hoping someone had heard something.

According to CHUD, it's still in pre-production....

I've emailed Steve for an update on the film if there is one.

My Meg4 book is now on pre-order.
Shockingly they aren't selling it on Play.com to my knowledge.
You can't keep waiting for the film Ti before you read the new book. The teaser chapters are really good.

I got his newsletter, it's completely bobbins. All it's full of now is 'What to do if someone has a stroke' and 'Chocolate brownie receipes'.

WHERE ARE THE KILLER SHARKS?!?!

Also, I've yet to read Primal Waters, so I can't order Hell's Aquarium yet.

The man is letting me down, Jonson. I don't want Brownies, I want a 60ft killer shark! And if someone is having a stroke, then the shark can eat them while I'm getting away.

I've read all three (and I've still to find the books so I can send them to Funky) but I thought Primal Waters was the weakest of the series so far...

Is De Bont even still on board?!

Just get Dennis Quaid as Jonas and we have a movie!

Well sort....

http://www.variancepublishing.com/meg-hells-aquarium-contest.html

It's the trailer for the fourth book Hell's Aquarium, but it's still pretty groovy.

Also, the latest news is this from Alten's newsletter;

For thirteen years I've worked on bringing MEG to the big screen. During that time, I've been left at the altar twice, first with Disney's Hollywood Pictures (1996), then with New Line Cinema (2005). I honestly believe these setbacks happened for a reason. I wasn't happy with any of the associated scripts, and special effects have made amazing leaps over the last decade. Now we have a brand-new script that is honestly better than the book (yes, I co-authored the script), we have accomplished producers (Watchmen, Hellboy), and we are getting close.

Also, work has begun on MEG 5: Night Stalkers!

Yeah, the trailer (for a book...) looks cool.
I've half way through Primal Waters again, I've re-read all 3 in anticipation of the new book (it's on order on Amazon - for some reason Play.com don't like Steve Alten, you can't buy any of his books there)
GET THIS FILM MADE GODDAMIT!!!!!!!!!!

I'm standing by my 'won't read Primal Waters till MEG is green lit'.... but I'm wavering.

Waver Ti, it's actually not a bad book, plenty of shark action. You'll certainly not be able to not read Meg4, especially if you're in it.
Just had a thought though, how about The Barrowman as Jonas Taylor?

I'll see if I can procure it. This doesn't get Steve off the hook! We want more film info! Is De Bont still on board? Who's the other co-writer? Any concept art kicking around that we haven't seen?

I just finished reading the first Meg book, really enjoyed it, total airport/beach novel but would make a great movie alright, the climax would be a bitch to film without it looking totally ridiculous though, how a movie with the words "giant shark eats dinosaur in opening scene" hasnt been made yet is beyond me

I know "Jaws 3D" has already been done but wouldn't it be cool if MEG was done in 3D too? If they did, we probably would require a change of underpants after watching the film...

Indeed, imaging Meg looming towards an imax screen with 10 foot high jaws, eek

Yes Ti, very seriously.
I'll try and scan/copy the page tonight, but it goes something like this "Captain Timon Singh, just under 6 foot tall, half British, Half Indian with a romanesque nose and a small cock"
OK, I made the last bit up  but I assumed he asked you for some personal details. A "short brown leather jacket and khaki trousers" it was more "Indiana" Singh than Captain Singh
I was thinking oh great, Meg is going all Bollywood on us now. can't wait for the dance number at the end.

I believe I said "huge nose, tiny cock. My nose over compensates for my lack of genitalia....", but I'll allow some creative licence.

You have a  few lines in it though Ti, I'm impressed.
Some people only get a crap mention in passing but you've got quite a good role (you'll be on screen for about 40 seconds at least  )
