Crap photo, but you get the idea...

And another gem of an appearance (more so than an entrance)

Is this more of an exit...?

Don't particularly like the film, but I love this entrance, esp. his grin (couldn't find a piccie of that):

I couldn't find any stills that do it justice, but Salma Hayek's entrance in From Dusk 'Til Dawn... In the words of Richie Cunningham, "Yowzah, Yowzah, Yowzah!"

Not sure if this next one is strictly a first entrance, but it counts for me...:

"'Slow ahead'... I can go slow ahead, why don't you come down here and chum some of this shit?"

"You're gonna need a bigger boat."

While I'm talking movie monsters,

Again, can't find the pic, but Leon's emergence out of the dark behind a knife is legend.

If we're talking single characters then O'ren in Kill Bill was pretty good.

Its a fight between Bond in Dr No and Sherif Ali in Lawrence of Arabia.... think I'm going with Sherif Ali.

Oh hang on, Frank (Henry Fonda) in Once Upon a Time in the West has got a fantastic entrance also.

The first two that came to mind were Jack Sparrow and his amazing sinking boat and Gandalf the White in Two Towers. I agree with Frank in Rocky Horror as well though, classic entrance indeed.

I'm not sure if this is an entrance as such but in Beauty and the Beast when Belle says 'come into the light' and the Beast steps out (this might be the first time we see him fully which is why I think it counts) is also fantastic. The horror of what he is coupled with her willingness to sacrifice herself makes it really powerful.

Oh and what about Edward Scissorhands?

You can't beat Captain Jack Sparrows entrance, I know it's been mentioned a few times but it really is the greatest character entrance....
