I'm rewatching S1 now. Forgot how good The Puppet Show was tbh. I also forgot that annoying bit at the start of this set of episodes explaining what the Slayer is.

My favourite episode of season 1 is Nightmares, that opened my eyes to how mean the show can actually get. It had a dude beat a kid into a coma and a girl getting beaten up for smoking. Harsh. Also, clowns = scary

Plus, there's a nice bit of foreshadowing in there with Giles' nightmare.....

No matter how ropey that episode is I still really enjoy it. Buffy can do no...well, very little wrong in my eyes and I enjoy even the lesser episodes.

There's a '...jacked in' line in there somewhere, isn't there?

"I'm online" is definately in there too.

If I were to compile a Top 20 I don't think any season 1 episodes would feature, the show really hit it's stride for me in season 2.

That is harsh. I liked how low key and cultish it was in those early episodes. I do agree that better was to come, but as far as setting the groudwork goes it was a good season and certainly better than most debut seasons are.

My order of seasons would be:

2
3
6
1
5
4
7

Yeah, "If you're not jacked in you're not alive" or something

That's just so bad. The fact that he's so agressive about it is hilarious.

Don't think any season is bad, just S1 is my least favourite.

RE: The "jacked in" line, I must quote that on a weekly basis, not even in any context I just like saying it. I think he's being so aggressive about it is because he's slave to the monster that got sucked into the computer.

Nah, that's just him. That scene is before Willow scans the book.

The 7pm showing used to be, when I've caught bits in the past I've notice bits cut out of it. Don't know if it's shown later in the evening uncut.

My seasons would go:

5
6
2
3
4
7
1

Hadn't really thought about how great season 5 was until I watched all the later seasons recently...others have better stand alone episodes but 5 is consistently emotionally traumatic which is what makes the show for me.

Interesting take there, I thought five had its moments, loved the episode with robbot girlfriend, it is certainly better overall than four, but still with weaknesses. I would say six is my favourite outside of 2 and 3.

In the middle of S4 now. I like it so far. I think they did well with the change from high school to college. Also, I like Riley. And I like Tara much more than I did on first watch. I really disliked her then. The highlight of the season so far though has been Spike's "I'm just a friend of Xander's" in an atrocious American accent.

More Spike is defeintly one of the plus points it has over three. My personal view on Tara is that she got more interesting as a character as things went along, don't think how and Dawn really came into their own until six.

Sadly I'm not bumping this for happy reasons

m.digitalspy.co.uk/showbiz/news/a456561/buffy-the-vampire-slayer-actor-robin-sachs-dies-aged-61.html

He was great as Ethan and his voiceover work was great too. I only finished a second playthrough of the Mass Effect series a few weeks ago and was thinking how cool his voice was in it

Yeah, it's a shame he wasn't in any more than just four episodes. The character was great and he should have been around to piss Giles off more. He appeared in comics, books and one video game but I'd have liked to have seen his redemption, everybody else got their chance

RIP, Mr Sachs

Ethan was a great character and the backstory of his and Ripper's antics was fascinating...great comic chops on him as well as a touch of sinister.
