Having watched it the other day I would say the Halloween episode where the characters change into what they are dressed as, is my favourite episode to date, there are just so many great moments, and it was just an inspired idea!

Love the line from Cordelia about Angel being like a cuddly kind of vampire, "like a carebear with fanks"

Also like the sight of Willow walking down the stairs with the Ghost sheet on with the boo, then later Cordelia asking who died and made her boss as Buffy sees her walk through the wall, and then Buffy's "Honey I'm home" line. Brilliant stuff alround and very creepy in places too.

Anybody seen any of this?  I'll most likely pick it up when it comes out next week. I haven't read any of the comics so will be nice to get some new Buffy adventures on the go.

Haven't seen that, but I've read most of the season 8 comics. They're a lot of fun, though quite random.

Now being deep into season five, to sum up I would say that I love the first three, but I have a number of issues with four. First of there was too many characters who popped up first appearing to be one thing, but then turning out to being not quite what they seemed, it became a little cliche and predictable. Another thing is that the show could have done much more with the character's transtion from High School to College, having promised to do this early in the season, it then peted out. One of the appeals of the show early on is how they balence the everyday aspects in with the supernatural, and actually made the school a big part of the show. Plus Reily has to be dullest character ever on Buffy, really there are far too many charcters to be able to keep track off. It had its moments, but was far below the standed set by the opening three seasons.

However five has been much better, returning more to the gothic roots of the show, and making it scary, funny and good to look at, and less like a James Bond movies. Also more back story of Spike and more Spike has to be a good thing!

Season 5 is actually one of my least favourites, along with 7.

I have a soft spot for seasons 4 and 6 for some reason.

I love season 5 and I'm not a big fan of 4 and 6.

Three is probably my favourite of all seven despite the lack of Spike. Then two, then Five.

Season 4 (and Riley) tends to come in for flack from a lot of fans but I personally think it's great. It integrates Spike and Anya as regulars, slowly introduces Willow's sexuality and is a game-changer in that it takes everyone (and itself) from their comfort zones. This is all juggled brilliantly. Plus Riley never bothered me and on repeat viewings I actually like him as a character. His run-in with Angel is tremendous.

Season 4 also has Hush for crying out loud.

Season 5 is my second favourite as it goes (after S3). The second half of S2 is essential TV but is let down by a mediocre first half.

Hush is my favourite episode but I find the rest of s4 to be 'meh'.

And I'm not a Riley hater either to be honest.

Thought it might be a good time to revive this as Sy-Fi have just had their greatest Buffy Episodes ever weekend, with a top twenty as voted for by the viewers (although the origanal twenty were compiled by the channel itself).

The list along with my own personally ratings:

19. Prophecy Girl (Season 1) 8/10
18. Conversations with Dead People (Season 7) 4/10
17. Normal Again (Season 6) 6/10
16. Halloween (Season 2) 9/10
15. Graduation Day (Season 3) 6/10
14. Restless (Season 4) 6/10
13. Grave (Season 6) 6/10
12. Innocence (Season 2) 7.5/10
11. Amend (Season 3) 7/10
10. Passion (Season 2) 9/10
9. Doppelgangland (Season 3) 8/10
8. Fool For Love (Season 5) 7.5/10
7. The Wish (Season 3) 7/10
6. Chosen (Season 7) 6/10
5. The Gift (Season 5) 5.5/10
4. The Body (Season 5) 7/10

Once more with feeling was voted the best!! Really nah it was good and well done but never the best episode. Thought Hush would win.

Some good episodes in that list. Not sure what me favourite is, Hush and Prophecy Girl are two of my favourites. Caught a few minutes of Doppelgangland while flicking the channels at the weekend.

I always go back to THE WISH as my favourite, but it's hard to choose like picking a favourite child, it can't be done! But I'd say all the choices were pretty excellent though OMWF seems a bit obvious as number 1.

It does and it ain't really one I re-watch personally. I prefer Doppelgangland to The Wish, personally even if the basic premise is bollocks. Although, the good thing about Buffy is that you can explain any plotholes with 'it's magic'

I've always loved Once More With Feeling. I particularly love the Walk Through The Fire song, and the one Buffy sings at the end when she admits that her friends tore her from heaven is very powerful. It's a very fun episode and I'm not surprised that it was voted the best because a lot of people love it, though personally I have to say Hush is the best episode of all. It's just so creepy, and so well done considering it's almost completely silent.

Scandalous lack of The Puppet Show in that list. Easily my favourite episode.

The Puppet show episode would have made my list too

Doppelgengland is a very strong episode and features one of AH finest ever performances in the show.

Not a bad list but I don't think my top 20 would have anything from season 7...Puppet Show and the Pack would've made it though. I think I'd have Tabula Rasa in as well because of Randy Giles! A New Man is pure comedy too so I'd have that in there. And the Zeppo...man this is too hard!

Surprised that Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered didn't make it either!

Is Restless no longer marmite? I'm sad Lover's Walk is so low, though - the return of a lovelorn Spike is priceless.

The vote was poor as you could only pick one episode out of a pre-determined list. I think I chose Innocence. I've been looking for a link to watch the Anthony intros but I can't find one. Thought someone would have posted them on youtube. I've seen the episodes far too many times to sit through them again (any time soon.)

If I were to compile a Top 20 I don't think any season 1 episodes would feature, the show really hit it's stride for me in season 2.
