I'm trying to think of films which are divided into two parts. Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac is coming up, and is divided up into Volume 1 and Volume 2.

Other obvious examples are Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2, Mesrine: Killer Instinct and Mesrine: Public Enemy Number One, and Che Part 1: The Argentine and Che Part 2: Guerrilla.

Are there any others?

And I'm thinking outside of obvious examples like Back to the Future Parts II and III, or Twilight: Breaking Dawn.

Rivette's Jeanne La Pucelle is split in two.

Human Condition is split into 3,(or technically 6) but it's the same single narrative.

There have been a few book related ones, Deathly Hallows, Twilight as you say, I think the last Hunger Games will be the same.

John Woo's Red Cliff was split but also released as an edited single release depending on the country.

Indian gangster film last year I recall now I'm perusing the Glasgow film fest listings - Gangs of Wasseypur? I think the animated version of The Dark Knight was in 2 parts but I've only seen it cinematically as one.

I guess The Hobbit falls into that category, albeit three films instead of two.

Tarantino's Grindhouse was split in two in the UK, but not US.

Not sure if that counts, really. Tarantino and Rodriguez made two films to be shown back-to-back, rather than one movie split into two.
