The Bad Seeds album is a good move as it's a scientific fact that the only way you can cleanse your ears after enduring Scream is by listening to a masterpiece.

I caught the video for Straight to You on Vintage TV and fell in love with it. Plus, I've been meaning to get into The Bad Seeds for a few years.

Hey, trying something different was an admirable move but that's no excuse for it sucking!

Just got The Hives - Lex Hives.

It's pretty mixed.  I mean The Hives are The Hives, but this comes across at some points as pretty by the numbers.  3 Songs that jump out straight away though and they have enough enthusiam, you can't help but like them.  Still, not as good as Black & White Album or Tyranosaurus Hives though.

Bought almost exclusively for the cover (And the record label who usually release great stuff), and it turns out to be really rather excellent!

Easily and undeniably Green Day's weakest (and most profane) album. It's like their last four albums never happened and they decided to make a (poor) follow up to Insomniac with almost all the same songs sounding the same but lacking the catchiness.

Aren't you guys almost fourty? Shouldn't you be leaving lyrics like "Someone kill the DJ, shoot the f**king DJ" (x3) ... "Shoot that f**ker down." to younger people we expect much less of?

Oh Love is easily the highlight and if I was to make a list of Top 100 Green Day songs it would be the only one that would be in consideration. I strongly suspect had they just released one album instead of this trilogy malarkey most of these songs would have been left on the cutting room floor. This is a huge step down from the lyrics of their previous two albums, which were showing they were getting better and better.

Here's hoping 2&3 are better but I'm expecting more less than stellar material.

2/5.

I also bought Madonna: The Complete Studio Albums, from which I ripped Everything from Madonna to Ray of Light and left the rest. Still worked out cheaper than buying just those seven on iTunes.
