Sadly I will be unable to actually watch the film when it comes out, because shortly after typing this comment the impact of this trailer will cause my head to explode.

That was one of the best trailers I've seen for a while. Not sure what the final product will be like, of course, but that baits the viewer very nicely indeed, and it doesn't give any money shots away.

Little given away - what's the big deal (yet)? Plus, this should be set in Japan :(

Are you having a laugh? 'What's the big deal'? Did you not see that massive monster in the trailer? That was Godzilla, son. It doesn't matter in the slightest where this is set. It could be set in Abergavenny. It's God. Freaking. Zilla.

I agree with all of the above. That is all I have to say about the subject.

I preferred the teaser with the Oppenheimer voiceover but love the way they're not giving too much away. Looks great!

There was a massive monster in the trailer for the '98 Godzilla. Your point?

yes this looks good so far...a fresh approach to a tired formula (destruction, prevailing etc) halo jump sequence looks well designed.

That wasn't Godzilla. It was just an ill concieved, visually and aesthetically pathetic cartoon with barely any resemblance of Godzilla. No one watched a trailer for that film and saw Godzilla, surely?
My point is that I believe what I saw in this trailer was in fact Godzilla. Maybe it was just a trick of the eye, I don't know, but I'm pretty sure he was there, appearing to be both visually and aesthetically incredible, as Godzilla ideally should.

Pacific Rim wasn't allowed to use Tokyo because both Tokyo and Japan play a big part in the Godzilla film. Also I saw at least three scenes in the trailer set in Japan.
