I would deffo like to see a second but the first remains one of the worst acted mainstream Hollywood efforts Ive seen in ages, despite the great cast.

How to make the sequel vastly superior to the first one - 16/10/2013 6:16:14 PM

1. Get rid of Charlie Hunnam. He isn't really much of an actor.
2. Also, get rid of those two comic relief annoyances!
3. Have most of the monster vs. robot sequences set in daylight as oppose to nighttime or rain.
4. Explain how utterly useless 'The Wall' is.
5. No more cheesy speeches like the one Idris Elba gave.
6. Make the tone a bit more serious.
7. Bring in some new characters.
8. More character development for Mako.

And last, but not least,

9. Don't bring back co-writer Travis Beacham! He's one of the worst writers in Hollywood today!!

If the first one was riffing on the Neon Genesis/Rah Xephon et al robot vs. kaiju genre, then maybe we could get a Macross/Gunbuster-style sequel. Morphing robot/jets and space kaiju. Oh god yes. Absolutely must have a space admiral with a big Father Christmas beard, too. Magical talking cat optional.

1) Pick another male actor: Gerard Butler Toby Kebbell. Even go for a Brad Pitt.
2) More Mako
3) Fights should take place in cities and daylight. Like Godzilla did.
4) Hire Weta digital to do the SFX
5) Make it Rated-R
6) Do not do it in 3D

I think he should concentrate on Mountains of Madness or Hellboy 3 based on Wake The Devil instead.

As he wont have to bother about the US so much (as shown by it's take worldwide rather than US) I think he can go for it a bit more & maybe push it for a 15 Cert.

I wanted this to be good so bad. Love del Toro. Hated this film. Hated it.
