+1 for Nic Cage. He's outstanding in Bad Lieutenant, and Vampire's Kiss is one of the most surrealy funny films I've ever seen.

Paul Walker. I always liked him. he has an everyman charm about him that was hard not to enjoy and seemed like a really decent bloke in real life.

I think The Rock/Dwayne Johnson has a huge amount of charisma and should be one of the biggest action stars of today.

I would also tentatively suggest Marlon Wayans, though that is solely based on his performance in Requiem for a Dream, which may (in fact looking at his filmography almost definitely is) an anomaly.

Johnson was about the only part I slightly liked from Pain & Gain, maybe he'll get there sometime. His Hercules movie looks pretty rad, I guess.

Glad someone named Franco. He may not play the most sophisticated roles, but he plays all his roles very believable. Even his side-role in The Iceman, was top-notch, whereas most actors would just be there. Oz had some flaws, but he was not necessarily one of them. When he plays, he delivers.

Tom Hardy, hardly gets the praise he deserves. Everything he does, he does so well.

Sam Rockwell doesnt seem to get enough love.

He carried Moon entirely on his shoulders.

He's absolutely superb in The Way Way Back. Would really have loved for him to get some attention through this awards season.

OK, I'm gonna say it and then duck for cover... Danny Dyer.

Yes, he's done an awful lot of shit (Christ, he'll say yes to anything), but I remember seeing him in HUMAN TRAFFIC, way back in the day, and thinking he was much better than John Simms...

Since then, it's mostly been a very bad bunch, but I remember the likes of SEVERENCE, VENDETTA (cracking good revenge thriller!) and CITY RATS... I also watched an episode of EASTENDERS (for the first time in about 20 years) and thought he was pretty good (Charlie Brooker agrees...)

Even Mr Kermode has something decent to say about him... nobody criticises Jason Statham for giving the same performance over and over again, so why should Mr Dyer be any different?

Now, please excuse me whilst I put up a massive umbrella in anticipation of the huge cavalcade of shit that will doubtlessly rain down on my head...

I like him Severence and I liked The Football Factory when I was 14 and didn't know better but he doesn't half make some shit, he's not a terrible actor he's just there...saying things, same as Statham but he's in better films than Danny Dyer will ever be in so he gets a pass from me.

As I said, he's been in a lot of crappy films, but he's an ok actor whose made some, shall we say, 'questionable' choices... there are much worse actors who are regularly employed on UK TV...

Mr Statham obviously has more worldwide star appeal, but I still think that Mr Dyer is a decent enough actor...

Yeah, I suppose Statham really can't be considered as one of the most mercurial actors in the world, but I think Statham makes a convincing action star and has charisma in spades. Dyer on the other hand is a posturing, knuckle dragging mockney dimwit with the acting prowess of a goldfish. He also threatened to punch a critic and wrote an article for Zoo magazine in which he advised a reader to disfigure an ex-girlfriend.

But to each their own, sir. : )

I think Matthias Schoenaerts is also an underrated actor. But that's probably more due to the reason he has yet to make his big breakthrough, which I'm sure will happen in 2014-2015 if you see the films in production he's in.

Ha! My point about Mr Dyer is that some people act like he's the worst actor who ever had the nerve to put his face before a camera when, actually, he's no worse than a lot of the more-lauded actors who are currently titting about on a screen near you...

I think his rather abrasive off-screen persona might put a lot of people off, it certainly does that for me, I'm just saying that when he's put in a decent film with a decent part he can pull it out of the bag... I just wish he was a bit more discriminating about the jobs he takes...

As for the 'cut your ex-GF' thing... c'mon, it was clearly a ghost-written thing for a shit magazine!

The guys a decent actor who's got stuck in a rut but hey, he's feeding his family, it would take a hard heart to begrudge him that, surely?

I'll plum for Mark Wahlberg.

Mr Wahlberg's performance in THE DEPARTED is a get-out-of-jail-free card for anything he ever does... including the next, doubtlessly awful TRANSFORMERS movie.

If to make a choice between American and English actors I choose the last ones. They are more talented in compare with "pamperness" of Yankees. Although there are always exceptions have place (mentioned Rockwell as an example, also I like Gandolfini very much). From the lasts of favorite it is Hardy, Bale. I'd like to plus Oldman but since recently he's just been quiting to "solo".
