Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy is over, so who is he going to
rip-off this time?

For me Skyfall was a great film but a middling Bond film. The action felt a little sparse and uninspired. Bring back the Casino Royale second unit and I'll be over the moon!

Very happy with this news. Skyfall was awesome. Can't wait to see what they do next.

Skyfall was when the Bond series came off formula. It was an admirable attempt to do something different, but the next one should get back on track.

Excellent news. Personally, I'd like to see it take a different tack to Skyfall - as much as I loved it, the ending suggested that Bond would be doing something less angsty (even if I hate that wanky term) from now on - but hopefully it'll live up to that standard of quality.

Oh, and have the gunbarrel at the 37 minute mark AND NOWHERE ELSE.

Somewhere in the world, probably in a shed round the corner from Pinewood surrounded by Octopussy memorabilia, John Glenn is sticking the pins into his home made Sam Mendes doll.

Sam Mendes brought Bond back on track after QOS and set things up perfectly for more to come! Skyfall is by far one of the best Bond films which has a true Ian Fleming feel to it. Can't wait to see where the next one will go and with Mendes on board again I just know I'm gonna love it!

Great. Another dull would-be Bond film that thinks it's too good to actually be like one. Wonderful.

Wonder if Mendes will manage to make his next Bond even more boring and nonsensical than Skyfall. At least there will be no Judi Dench this time.

what do people want?!
more gadgets?
more silly one-liners?
more invisible cars?
or do they just want casino royale again and again and again?

Bond has to keep being different and exciting. he's not John McClane for fucksake!
nor is he Bourne (thank God - surely the dullest action character ever)
he is an amalgam of the 60s, the 70s, the 80s and 90s and then to top it off in the 21st century we have the best Bond of all.
Connery will always be the originator but the world is different now, it is not enough to 'do a Bond movie', you have to be better than everyone else and if that means ripping up the rule book... GOOD!
and if people out there really think Skyfall was dull, just trundle off and watch a Michael Bay movie would ya?!

SKYFALL wasn't dull but I'd like to see Bond have come fun with his job again... as his last line went, 'with pleasure...'

I don't want invisible cars or big undersea volcano bases, but I want huge mental action sequences, Bond to shag at least three women and, for gods sake, give him more funny lines, plus a big extravagent death scene for the main villain, not just Bond chucking a knife from off-screen.

the same director has been used twice in a row for a Bond film? Well Sam Mendes made a very good film with the first one, but he needs to up the action scenes even more, and give Bond a villain whom he can properly face off against. Not a guy who spends the final battle throwing grenades from a distance, and dying by having an off-screen knife in his back.

Considering you're predisposed to hating any future Daniel Craig era Bond films, I think you know the answer to this one.

Serious question: How come Dalton's frankly unpleasant Bond in Licence to Kill gets a pass from you but Daniel Craig doesn't?

Hot.

As normal I will count down the dats until Bond 24 is released but not happy with the Craig/Mendes tie up. Skyfall was not an ok film but was not a Bond movie,

We need a good story with the right mix of drama vs action ensuring that the the story is about Bond and not a tiff between his boss and her first boy.

The producers should go back to source and use the books again, in my opinion the two best films in the series are OHMSS and Casino Royale which are direct references to the novels.

Also bring back David Arnold to score the movie, Skyfalls score was dire.

Great news, glad they've teamed up again SKYFALL was the dogs as far as I'm concerned, I've no doubt they'll up the action and so on with this but at least they took Bond in a slightly different direction with DC's first Bond...

No it's not. Terence Young directed 2 in a row: Dr No and From Russia With Love, Lewis Gilbert did 2 The Spy Who Loved Me then Moonraker and John Glen did 5 For Your Eyes Only - Licence to Kill First time in a while though

Agreed. As much as I loved Skyfall as a unique movie, I don't want every Bond to be like it.

Finding it hard to be excited, Skyfall had a lot going for it but it was no Casino Royale. Also means David Arnold is not going to do the score, not good.

Not surprised, Mendes seems to have taken to being in a comfort zone and Bond is perfect for that/

Mendes did a good job with Skyfall, but it's a pity that he isn't stretching himself with more interesting projects. Remember American Beauty??
