They're really pushing Tauriel, aren't they. Almost all of the promo shots seem to feature her quite prominently.

I think as to why they're doing that is because otherwise it's kind of a sausage-fest. I don't mind the addition of Tauriel, I just hope that she's a well-written character and well acted.

IMO the dragon in the trailer is the Smaug from the books.

Given dragons don't actually exist, I'm not sure what the 'unconvincing' context is.

I agree, as long as she's a decent character who makes sense in the context of the movie, I have no problem with her existing. But I'm not a big fan of characters being created just for the sake of diversity. I think a cast made up entirely of white men is preferable to a cast made up of mostly white men with some other characters shoehorned in so they don't get accused of being racist/sexist.

Sod it! I wrote a reply and the sodding internet went down! Anyway the gist of what I wrote was that Taurial is suspected of being *poss spoilers if you've not read the book* the Captain of the Guard, so the character is already in the book and (if I remember correctly) it doesn't state if it is a male or female elf *end of spoilers*

Anyway onto more images taken from TORn from the DoS annual:~

This way, my fellow Hobbity friends.

It was good that I watched "The Hobbit" Part 1 again because I enjoyed it more the second time. Now I'm looking forward to Part 2 and yes...the dragon...

Looks like more of the same, dragon voice is a plus, too much filler as before is still a minus. Not sure why they are still pushing that whole "Bilbo doesn't belong" drama, it was unnecessary before but it was already resolved. Still over doing the whole Elven racist thing too when there's really no need, their issues with the Dwarves are really a historic problem and goes unsaid most of the time.

Not really; it's a large part of the book.

I don't remember Thorin being an insufferable twat to him for the entire journey, maybe its just me. I mean he's a bit peeved towards the end, but not like this.

As is the tension between the elves and dwarves. It's why Legolas and Gimli becoming such good friends was considered exceptional.

He pretty much is. He's actually kind of a dick character, even more so in the book I'd say. I reckon they've toned his dickishness down a bit.

I'd agree this looks like more of the same though, which is enough for me to have no interest in it. I actually rolled my eyes and sighed when the Elf king offered his love-life advice to Freckles, just like Elrond, and she looks all mopey. Zzzzzzz......

Of course it's more of the same. It's part of the same story! They were never going to stand alone.

I hoped it wouldn't have been a bit too much to ask for some restraint, decent pacing and laying off the padding though. More of the same to me means more of the same problems.

Book!Thorin is awful to Bilbo nearing the end before the Battle of Five Armies *spoilers for those who have not read the book* doesn't he try to kill Bilbo after hearing of his supposed betrayal to the Bard and Elves *end of spoilers*

EDIT:~

Taken from TORn, if you want to see what human!Beorn will look like then take a gander at THIS.

Not quite sure of that look at the moment. Although we can only judge when we see the film, I suppose.

One thing I think we will see in the final Hobbit film is the transition of Sauron from a 'being' in to the flaming eye. I think the whole Eye of Sauron thing confused people.
